Great choice of the voice actors, I like it!
Still I don't understand why they start adapting the sequel and not the prequel. There is the movie based on prequel, but it is so little comparing to the whole manga.

It'll probably be worth looking into the actual plot of Kyukyoku no Orange, because it wasn't until just now that I realized that the "Daigo" of this manga/anime isn't the same one as in the original manga, Daigo Asahina.
Instead, after looking some info up, Daigo Toake is the main character of this sequel, & was inspired to become a firefighter himself after meeting Daigo Asahina when he was 10 years old. Continuing to use the OG manga's plot description is only going to confuse people, since the OG Daigo himself will likely only make the occasional cameo, more than likely.

Yes, you are right. They are different people. Description is wrong.

I believe this is Ayaneru's second firefighting anime? Wasn't she in Promare?

Simple: The sequel manga is currently running, and the anime will act as promotion for it, which is usually the main reason why any anime adaptation of a manga is made, in the first place. Also, since it has its own cast, I'm sure you don't actually need to read the OG manga to enjoy the sequel, so it makes perfect sense to adapt the sequel into an anime.
