Obviously if they had any intention of escaping, they would have used "Lupin" instead of "Luffy."

What kind of pirate would take something that doesn't belong to them?

Based on communication data on the suspects' mobile phones, the police believe that the robbers received instruction from "Luffy" using the Telegram messenger app. The group members appear to have been recruited through an informal recruitment ad on social media. |
The rubber wants to be king of the pirates, looking for that one piece to get him there, recruiting through the power of friendship, using the Philippines' rubber plantations and abundant varieties of fruits

Hey, I think I heard about this case on my NHK World Japan app yesterday although the article on NHK World didn't mention about them using "Luffy" as an alias.

Even then their odds of escape would probably be somewhere between 60 & 80 percent.

Really? You do a bunch of burglaries and then you use the alias of a One Piece character and you don't choose nami who is LITERALLY A BURGLAR? and yes I know that would be too obvious but like, its about aesthetics.

I found out about it in the news yesterday, which made me wonder if that Luffy person really did name themselves after the One Piece protagonist.

I was having a good chuckle at this story, but damn, someone died because of this? That's pretty fucked up.

Quote: | NHK reported on Sunday that Japan and the Philippines will soon be in talks about the handover of four or five suspects, at least one of whom is believed to be "Luffy." |
... The fact that this has gone internationally too. Dayum.

Luffy's not smart enough to pull off this kind of caper.
