Health is the most important! I hope that he finishes his manga and that it will be adapted into the anime series also.

That's unfortunate; he really is a gifted and caring writer. Here's hoping to the best for him, and that he can write Witch Watch as much as he pleases to his satisfaction.

Love Witch Watch and Kenta Shinohara.It’s a fun series that I would like to continue for a bit longer but, at the same time, I don’t want him overexerting himself
 I wouldn’t even mind if Witch Watch were to switch to a different release schedule. I just want Shinohara to be happy and healthy!

For the record, this isn't Shinohara announcing or alluding to any changes in Witch Watch's serialization. This was in the context of a reader submitting a question on a Q&A website - which Shinohara and his staff often use to respond to fan questions - saying he doesn't plan to start another weekly serialization after this.
Also worth noting he's not saying there's any immediate health issue. To me this sounds like a guy approaching 50 saying frankly that he can't and doesn't want to put himself through the stress and workload of a weekly magazine release again, especially after 15+ years of it. I imagine if he keeps working in manga after Witch Watch ends (whenever that is), he'll move to a different release schedule or change the amount of solo illustration and writing he takes on. |

I really loved his writing of Astra Lost in Space, which was a shorter and contained story that serialized monthly, if I recall? I'm not convinced that weekly serializations produce good plotting or pacing (I tend to prefer monthly series with fewer/longer chapters) and I'd so much rather the artists find a sustainable pace to make the work they love for the readers who will enjoy it no matter what. |

I was surprised he went back to do a weekly serialization given that he "did his time" with Sket Dance and how Astra Lost in Space wasn't in WSJ. Makes me wonder what lead to that decision to do another weekly in Witch Watch, but perhaps we'll never know.

Could be they offered him an unusually sweet deal on account of WSJ having lost seven heavy hitters in the preceding year. |

Yeah, I recall Shinohara sharing his schedule on Twitter too, and he does what he can to make the most of his day and even have playtime with his kids, which is sweet.
