Pixiv has been going downhill for years now already and I noticed most of the major artists I followed moved elsewhere like Nijie, Fantia, Skeb, or their own website/social media over the past few years. Sad to see Pixiv go down this route but its nothing surprising.

Completely agree, nothing surprising but full of pure shame sadness,
I hope they will see how many people leave them and reconsider at some point,

Guess it's time to remove the Pix account to show some protesting act >.>

Nothing really surprising since they are affected by those credit card companies that demands what should be accessible and allowed to be paid. Blame those companies that put pressure to them.

Those are some vague guidelines. I'm sure there will be no controversy over what gets determined to be classified as unethical or offensive.

And the people who made calls for censorship over the years that empowered said companies.

Man, fudge those credit card companies and the prudes who run them. And I sincerely hope the artists find another platform, with a good reach.

RIP Pixiv. Shout out to all the guro fans and furries who acted like they were morally superior to loli fans but got lumped in with them in the end and hit with the banhammer as well.

I think it like what happened at other sites. Certain American groups want all kinds of porn to be banned. Who knows, they might go after renaissance paintings.

So Mastercard don't allow

"Non-consensual mutilation of a person or body part"

If they make it global mortal kombat, soldier of the fortune can't be paid with credit card. (Probably it won't happen because it sounds dumb in west)

Some month ago DMM stopped accepting Mastercard (things like dmm Bitcoin and dmm JCB card exist) Skeb stopped accepting Mastercard for some genre, pixiv should also do something like this, stop accept Mastercard for some genre, sell pixiv point cards, that can be used for this genres (like fantia toracoins, dlsite points)

I mean pixiv should do what every other similar site doing. Probably they will, this announcement are literally just posted.

"Non-consensual mutilation" implies the existence of consensual mutilation, doesn't it?

Drawn, fictional depictions of incest and bestiality being banned seems a bit excessive regardless of how one personally feels about such topics. Underage I can somewhat understand because it might fall under many countries' legal definition of CP, but which countries' laws do drawings of incest violate? Saudi Arabia's?

It's not about laws, it's about the credit card company's morals. They'd ban tons of other stuff if they thought they could get away with it.

Any country that bans loli or has strict online content moderation like the UK or Germany can choose to apply the reasoning to any kind of content they choose. Obscenity laws are vague on purpose so they can be applied via discretion.

Just make your own payment processor. These creditcards are not required to let you profit off your artwork if they don't want to.

Speaking of Skeb, they recently decided to no longer accept credit card payments and form their own cryptocurrency called SkebCoin..
