Just saying that having a pair of same-sex characters as the leads is/are not necessarily intended to be queer-baiting nor is that necessarily going to be the result or outcome. Same goes with opposite sex. Now, people might either set of characters even if there are no official shipping moments or teases.

I think the fact it's literally called "Buddy Daddies" might be where people are getting a queer read. I mean, pretty out there thought, I know! It's way easier to just accuse people of shipping everything than think about things like that!

The production knew very well what it was doing when it put two males characters of opposite personalities together, roommates, looking after a cute little girl, and named them Buddy Daddies. Series like that are very specifically designed to cater to BL fans and shamelessly base their success and popularity on them.
So many years since Yuri on Ice, and still no one dares to do the simple thing it did to reach success. That kind of weakness is disappointing. |
