It also comes with the fact that WSJ now is way, way out of its prime with the current roster, where most of the volume sales of series that can be considered as "middle-tier" losing numbers to what it had even in late 10's.
Yes, this and a lot of modern auditory moved from WSJ to Jump+ after it established it's name with a few hits.

I don't want people to exaggerate wildly.
Everything else aside, consider: a physical copy of WSJ is large and useless once you've read it. It's even pointless to collect it (unless you're that sort of otaku I guess). So what usually happens is, people buy it, read it, throw it out in the trash. Sure, it may get partly recycled, but even so it's a huge waste of resources (paper, ink, water...), never mind the footprint of it being delivered into stores, etc. All that for what - half an hour, an hour at most, while someone leafs through it for the series they follow.
And for that matter, why would anyone even pay the price of an entire magazine, and then haul it home, etc. only to read like, 30-40 pages of the series they follow, that they'll likely buy later in tankoubon form anyway? Tachiyomi, people just picking up the mag at a store and reading the chapters they were interested in was/is widespread with these magazines (at least those that are not shrink-wrapped to prevent it).
Ever since Japan finally caved in and accepted digital as a viable option all data I've seen points toward people being very happy with digital. Quicker, more convenient, takes up less space (also you can read it in public without everyone seeing what you're reading). Sure, lots of people still buy physical manga, and publishers and record companies still cling to pushing physical media as opposed to digital (ehhhhh), but with magazines digital is the only way forward... well, in the short term, anyway. In the longer term it's digital and series-based, like Jump+, where people don't have to pay weekly for a collection of series where they're only following only a handful, but they can select what they want to follow and pay for that separately. (Hell, it's more profitable, too...)

I used to buy(living in Finland that means mainly ordering online) a lot of physical volumes. But even living in a not-so-small house, you will realize space is premium even there, eventually. Especially if you're into anime figure collecting which tends to drink up space like water, and can't be substituted for digital. Nowadays I almost solely buy digital(manga/anime/novels), save the only ones left are hardbacks of Vinland Saga manga, and Japanese artbooks(anime/manga/pixiv/etc). Gone are the days of worrying about shipping costs(books are heavy!), customs declarations(well that still applies to artbooks...), unobtainable volumes, etc. Even back-ups/archiving aren't an issue, a lot of stuff can be ripped despite drm, and what can't, there surely can be found 'other' versions online to substitute as backups.
Also, digital is a lot more portable, I love my Kobo ereader! (that said, there's still not a passable color ereader to be found unfortunately. Tablet works but gives more eye strain..)

Same here. I absolutely hate digital so hopefully physical will remain an option. I personally think it will, but not on a large scale.

Congrats to the magazine! I like the series it publishes!
Hope Sakamoto Days and Ao no Hako soon also will get anime adaptations! They deserve it!
