Resident Evil fans seemed to have caught a break. A shame Halo fans weren't so lucky and their show apparently is getting renewed.

I'll live without seeing a second season, but I still would've been curious about how they would've incorporated the lore into future seasons.

I doubt they would do that unless it's a really nice tax write off like other networks have been doing. But I certainly hope that it's the next Netflix adaption that only sees one season produced. |

You all act confused or shocked about why this exists or why live-action adaptations of anime and video games exist, but you know the answer deep down:
A corporate entity (though not just them) thinks video games and anime are for literal children or, in the latter case, freaks and manchildren at worst. They think no sane white/blue collar worker is going to watch a cartoon, and thus, there's no justifiable reason to regularly produce something like Resident Evil Infinite Darkness. As twisted or trollish as that logic sounds, it's what it is. |

I'm not shocked at all lol. We all know why these projects get greenlit. Companies pandering for the mainstream audience dollar, progressives gleefully squeeling that they get to pervert and change Japanese material and make it the way they feel it should be made in the first place. It's all pretty obvious who these projects are aimed for and why. Let's just be glad anime fans actively reject these things and ensure they're short lived unlike other fandoms who lap it up and ask for more trash. |

Whoa whoa whoa this is a bad bad take dude. Being progressive has nothing to do with these adaptations getting made. This is particularly weird when you bother to reconcile how not diverse and backwards Japan can be when it comes to stereotypical portrayals in most mediums they produce. It’s also weird how you call Resident Evil Japanese (which it is) while ignoring that almost every single game in the series takes place in the U.S. and also inspired somewhat by B Horror Movies.
Lol you must new to the anime fandom, hell you must be new to this site where almost every other announcement thread has people in disbelief at how something that was either subjectively awful or objectively awful gets new/more content made for it.
I would think Halo fans i.e. the more prone to being butthurt crowd would be more focused on the state of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer than the Paramount Series. |

These adaptions have happened enough times that fans should know what to expect by now, I would think. But it's crazy to think people used to mock the old Anderson films when in hindsight they turned out better than this show. I suspect Netflix could make people nostalgic for Uwe Boll. |

Used to? Most of the fandom still hates those movies. And then as you may have forgotten we got the Monster Hunter live action film which I’m sure elicited the same divisiveness. |

I recommend Bennet the Sage's Anime Abandon episodes on Netflix Bebop because he goes into the depth of why this keeps happening. BUUUUT if you don't want to watch youtube videos, he concludes that Netflix saw the success and blow-up of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and said "Hey, I bet we can pull in the same audiences if we do live action with anime series cause anime series and comic book series aren't THAT different!" I would agree this is more than likely the reason. ....and so it continues on =_= Too bad making an anime live action defeats the entire purpose of why anime even exists. IT'S CAUSE PEOPLE. LIKE. ANIMATION. I mean YES, you can use pretty much any medium to tell a story....but when you have to deal with the LIMITS of live action realism....why even bother telling an anime story like that? The only way this can be pulled off is when the people behind the project CARE about more than making money and have talent. (like the Kenshin movies were fine) But Netflix really lacks in talent when it comes to projects like this....they just keep failing and failing and failing. I don't know why they keep trying but they need to try something ELSE. |
