I can't wait to see the trailer for this. Love the manga, but Seven Arcs leave me concerned for how the action scenes are handled. We'll wait and see.

Even in Europe they use the title "Demon Slave", but well, it is common that around here many works are "fixed" in one way or another.

Speaking of which, I wonder why ANN didn't do a feature about how Seven Seas arbitrarily changed the gender of a character in the manga 'I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl'?

If there's a feature about him here, then I apologize.

I mean, yeah true. I'm guessing they didn't want some audiences being offended by having the word 'Slave' in the title of a comic.

At least it's not as egregious as what they did to Danmachi.

Correction: It is right and left.

What happened with DanMachi? Shocked

You think 'Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?' is an apropos translation for that series given the content?

IIRC there was a whole thing about it early on about whether it should be 'Picking Up' or 'Having An Encounter With'.

From Vermeil to Tenka, huh. That should work out.

I always thought it was a weird title, but the argument that "having an encounter with" would be a better translation rests on flipping open a translation dictionary instead of looking at any real world usage of 出会いを求める. Pop the phrase into any search engine and you'll get nothing but articles about dating and/or hooking up. The only complaint I could see is that "picking up" has acquired some baggage in English that narrows the definition, while the Japanese is used more broadly for seeking dating opportunities/partners.

Absolutely it is. Bell did initially go into the Dungeon at least partly following his grandfather's advice about getting girls to fall for him by saving them (I think that qualifies as "picking up"), only for that meaning to be immediately ironically flipped by circumstances. And that interpretation does prove more accurate later on, even if Bell isn't doing it intentionally.

Oh, so it's just about the title? I always thought that the author... picked an "isekai-sounding" title on purpose to attract the same audience. Laughing
I like DanMachi (from what I watched so far at least), so I don't mind even if its title is a bit weird when translated. Since it's quite long I'm just using the Japanese abbreviation anyway so I don't really care. By the way, the official Italian translation of the novels is "È sbagliato cercare di incontrare ragazze in un Dungeon?" ("Is it Wrong to Try to Meet Girls in a Dungeon?"), which I think is a perfect translation from Japanese without adding unnecessary connotations?

Oh, I like that (although my Italian is virtually nonexistent). Adding "girls" gets across the sense of seeking potential romantic partners, but keeping "meet" avoids the sleazier connotations that I, at least, have come to associate with "pick up."
