I've collected Project DIVA soundtracks for years (they make for excellent Crypton Vocaloid compilations) and tried to get into the games themselves a couple of times, but the timing windows in them are ridiculously strict compared to some other rhythm game series, including Project mirai. Unfortunately, I suspect that this new version of Mega Mix is more of the same in that regard.

There are also some curious entries like a Miku-cover of the Nyancat song.

That's the original; the version of the song popularized in the Nyan Cat meme was a cover featuring the UTAU voicebank Momone Momo.

I played the megamix demo on switch and wasn't too into it so I wonder if this would be more up my alley.

How much creative control do you have with the tshirts? Can you just make up really bizarre stuff or is there just some, like, stamps you can select from?

I'm also interested in what sort of mod content might happen for this. I remember the project diva games on PSP had some great mods done.

Also thanks R. Kasahara for mentioning nyancat. When I read that line in the review I thought "but isn't miku's the original?", but couldn't remember enough miku lore to be 100% certain.

I've had my hand on a Switch considering taking to take it to checkout mostly because of PD Megamix but always ended up at "maybe I'll wait for the upgraded version", so I'm glad Sega just decided to bring it to pc.

Oh trust me, if the difficulty ever went down, at least the top difficulty, Japanese fans would riot. Project Diva and rhythm games in general is kind of a lifestyle to some people.

That's also what I'm wondering. First thing that should show up (heck probably already did) is a mod that adds the songs from PD Future Tone on PS4 that didn't make it into Megamix. They're literally the same game under the hood (+ cell shading) so simply adding the files just works. Its even less work on pc since the reason those songs were excluded is because they would tank performance on the less powerful Switch (Like how Rerulili's Knife is unplayable on the Switch unless you disable the grass). Obviously that's not a concern on pc.

Actually I wonder how the modders who were working to bring Project Diva to PC are feeling right now. It all started when the software of a Project Diva cabinet leaked online. The cabinet itself is literary just a windows pc with a bigger case so it just run, except it was only optimized for Nvidia GTX570s and wouldn't run at all on AMD, so that was what they were working on (and there are AMD patches already)... But well with this release its probably redundant.

As cool and exciting as this is, I won't be getting it as I have all the other releases, as well as the leaked arcade data running on a spare PC.

Slight correction to what a previous commenter said: the arcade release is based on/against a GTX 650Ti with 1GB of GDDR5 RAM.

My arcade "build" has my spare, albeit overkill, GTX 1060 in it haha.

It's not the same feel as an actual Sega NU hardware setup/cabinet, but the core game is there. I have the stock songs with some custom ones too (MegaMix and PPD tracks). I'm happy with that for now. If I can ever procure an actual AFT (ARCADE Future Tone) machine, that'd be awesome, but until then I'll play my copies of the PSP/PS3/PS4/PSVita/NS/Leaked Arcade games until the end of time. I do also have Project Mirai DX for 3DS, but I rarely use my 3DS as is lol.
