Ahh, I was hoping Shu Uchida would reprise her role of Mia Taylor in the English dub version. I'd imagine it's due to scheduling logistics.

I'll fully admit my exposure to Love Live is very rudimentary at best, but happy to see Okatron continuing to work on this show (as one of CR/Funi's third-party partner studios).

Considering the first season dropped all at once (and her role likely recorded in batches), I imagine it would be much harder to keep up for a weekly simulcast. Unless Mia is a new character to S2 and you just meant reprise from the JPN cast, but yeah the schedule demands would still be there.

why would she be in a English dub while she does Japanese voice work?

Hell yes. Already watched the first two episodes but can't wait to hear Kayli Mills back as my favorite girl Kasumi!

Uchida's fluent in English, and the character she plays is American. There have been a couple other series recently that were able to do something similar. I think D4DJ had a character where her JP voice actress portrayed her in both dubs, for instance. It wasn't likely to happen, but it would have been neat.

Tbh, D4DJ is about the only example I can think of that's not going back to like... keeping Pikachu's JPN VA or Miyuki Sawashiro in Di Gi Charat's dub? Seems like more of an outlier unless I'm forgetting obvious examples. Even incidental background English-speakers that actually sound accurate (Eden of the East comes to mind) will usually be re-dubbed.

Yeah, feels like they should have waited and tried to get Uchida to reprise the role. But maybe they tried and were told it wasn’t possible. Either way, I hope they don’t forget about dubbing Superstar!

Minmay in the (official) Macross dub, but that was years ago.
