lol so I live in NY and I just think it’s funny how there are promotional ads for this all around the site, posts about it every other day but some of us can’t attend because we refuse to put an unknown substance (yes thee vaccine) in our body due to the mandate. So sure ANN, as I love the website with all my heart, I’d love to meet you guys there and show my upmost support. Just see if you can sneak me in through the backdoor at some point will ya? You guys know how many true fans can’t attend this year? Make this an issue this weekend. Screw us unvaxxed I guess

Well, TBH, we're coming at this from a very different perspective. While I respect your right to refuse to put something you don't understand in your body (or even something you do understand, it's your body), there's no way in hell I would go to Anime NYC (or send any ANN staff) if they allowed unvaccinated people into the convention; too much of a health risk (even though I'm vaccinated).
So yeah, being vaccinated, I feel relatively safe at a large event as long as everyone is vaxxed and masked, but I wouldn't feel safe around an unvaccinated crowd. Moreso, holding large events with unvaccinated attendance would be incredibly irresponsible IMHO and would contribute to a longer lasting pandemic and more deaths. It's also worth noting that whatever the organizers' beliefs on the vaccine mandate, they have no choice in the matter. The rules are from the state, city and convention center. Anime NYC is just following them. Hopefully in a year or two the pandemic will have subsided and we can all hang out together. -t |

Unfortunately I'm going on Sunday so I won't be able to visit the ANN specific panel. Good luck on that!

First off, I would like to say I appreciate the quick and honest reply. I was hoping for more of a movie-like riposte with tickets and a guaranteed entrance but I guess it’ll just have to remain something I hanker after. Nonetheless, I respect your response and I’m also looking forward to enjoying future events and conventions where EVERYONE is included. This site really is the best! |

My wife is an ER doctor (and yes, this pandemic has been hell for her), and even she was initially reluctant to be first in line for an mRNA vaccine. But we researched the crap out of it, and it was not hard to see that the tech was mature and the clinical trials were amazingly robust with over 44,000 participants. She got the vaccine the first week it was available to her, and our kids got it the first week it was available to them (last week!). Of course, now we have over a billion vaccinations, so the safety data is even more reliable: You are about 1000 times more likely to be harmed by crime in NYC than harmed by an mRNA vaccine. I want you to be well. Feel free to PM me anytime. I'm confident there are good answers for any question you may have. There is not a single unknown substance in these vaccines.
Please, please, please do not think this is about inclusivity. Inclusivity doesn't mean zero exclusion, it means zero unjust exclusion. It's wrong to exclude someone from a job because of their skin color. But it's fine to exclude someone from a job because of their performance. It's wrong to exclude someone from an anime convention because of their beliefs. But it's fine to exclude someone from an anime convention because their actions negatively affect other congoers. In fact, it would be wrong to do otherwise. Even though a nudist has the right to never wear clothes, invoking that right obliges them to accept the consequence that they can't go shopping, or be a teacher, or attend a con. Same with your right to refuse a vaccination. |

I was at the panel in 2019, i'll be there again this year.
The thing that I learned at the 2019 panel that surprised me the most was how spread out the whole operation(ANN) is. i had assumed you had an office somewhere like NY, but to find out most of your staff teleworks and your still able to put out a great product was mind boggling in 2019. |

I greatly appreciate this. I will do my part as well by doing more research on the vaccines. I hope everyone takes care and does what’s right for them or what they feel is best. |
