INU-OH might very well be Yuasa's final project with Science SARU.

Was there some news somewhere that I missed? Is either Yuasa or SARU retiring or is Yuasa no longer directing movies at his own studio for some reason?

He stepped down as president last year and quote: "Cited his desire to take a break from directing after seven years of continuous work, but reaffirmed his commitment to completing additional projects with Science SARU in the future"

I don't know if anything else has been said since then, but I believe INU-OH was the last work he's been listed as the planned director for so I assume now that the planned work is done he'll be taking that break

And honestly good on him for taking a break. Ride Your Wave was one of my favorite movies in recent memory, Night is Short was great, Eizouken was great, Lu Over the Wall... had nice animation I guess?

I should get around to watching his older stuff (I saw Mind Game but it was a bit too out there for me to enjoy) but I'm excited for Inu Oh.

Seeing Inu-oh tomorrow! Been excited for it since seeing the first PV and hearing Queen Bee/Avu-chan was involved on the music side.

If this is to be Yuasa's last work in a good long while, then he is going away on a high note. Legitimately left speechless by Inu-Oh. An absolute masterpiece. The animation is breathtaking. The story is incredible. The lead characters are amazing. The songs are spectacular. What else can I say? Like the movie itself says don't let this story die out. Experience it for yourself.
