I mean I like Jujutsu Kaisen better than Demon Slayer, but I can only speak for myself.

I way preferred Demon Slayer over JJK, I never quite wrapped my head around the fighting system in that one and I didn't really feel too much for the characters as I did with Demon Slayer and never felt as emotionally invested either
Guess that makes me simple *shrug*

Do I personally enjoy JJK more than Demon Slayer? Yup. I can easily see why Demon Slayer is as popular as it is though. I don't think it's near as deep as many give it credit for, but I do get the popularity. I will say both shows have top notch animated fight scenes though, I could watch simple clip rolls of fights from both shows and be happy just with that.

If I'm entirely honest, they're both kind of average action shows with slick production values but you could just go back and watch Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho again.

Oh, ouch -- that's a pretty big spoiler for the current Demon Slayer arc (from the Aftershow, not in this thread), for anyone who hasn't seen the Mugen Train movie.
I guess I side with the majority in preferring JJK to KNY, but it's definitely clear why KNY's appeal is broader. James really did capture it perfectly: KNY is both safe and well-executed/polished enough to be the Marvel movie(s) of the anime world, without introducing very many elements that many audiences might find off-putting, but also keeping its world and cast extremely straightforward to understand, at least so far.

Imo Demon Slayer gets a bit too formulaic and eventually the plot goes south in the end.
I facepalmed when Muzan's demon origins were revealed, man's just took some bad medicine...

KNY. I like JJK as well, don't get me wrong. The reason why it's subjectively better for me is the fairytale aspect of the tale. I am a sucker for them (As well as the period backdrop and the beauty of the animation). However, it's simplicity is it's strength. Objectively, this is why it will always be more popular. When you nail the basics to perfection, that resonates so well with people. That is why basic fairytales or myths become timeless. You can't escape how powerful those stories are. JJK is great, but it's adding complexity (nothing wrong with that). I watch KNY and feel less interested in the mechanics and more appreciative of the idea of the struggle of mortals with immortality, the temptations, the desire to be as good as the ultimate hero, and the apparent doom of those who face true evil and the fall of men.

No it's not. I just don't care about the JJK characters. I'm not really invested in them. The only character I even cared about at all was the jellyfish guy and well look what happened to him...
With demon Slayer I actually care about the characters and invested in their success or failure. JJK is a lot of fighting and action and stuff but I feel like the plot is so much weaker than demon Slayer which has a lot of out of combat stuff that's so personal and interesting.

You didn't read the Demon Slayer manga and it shows. The plot get so much dumber it's not even funny, too many asspulls or not even trying to want to explain things properly. If you feel JJK has a lot of fighting then you better prepare yourself because that's all you'll get in Demon Slayer going forward, just dragged out meathead action. Oh and don't forget a flashback after every demon is killed in order to make you feel sad.
