Rest in peace. We've lost a legend. Golgo 13 is a classic manga. He'll be greatly missed. Condolences to his loved ones.

Damn two (3?) legends in one year. RIP. Seems like Golgo will hold the record for longest running manga by a long shot since it's just a few behind Dokaben.

i kind of wish they wouldn't continue the manga, i'd be ok with them releasing any completed chapters or chapters in progress but to come with new material will eventually differ from the original creator. That said if you want to hire a bunch of famous Mangaka to create One-Shot Golgo 13 Manga i would def support that.
RIP |

Rest in peace. When I started reading manga, 20 years or more ago, Golgo 13 was already an established work.

Golgo 13 is like Lupin the Third in that it's long stopped being something that only the original creator has to make. Lupin still receives new manga to this day, yet Monkey Punch himself more or less stopped drawing them since around the 80s or 90s, so Takao Saito's staff making more Duke Togo stories after his death makes perfect sense. Also, it's literally what Takao Saito himself wished to happen & made plans for long before his death, so it's not like they're continuing the manga just for exploitative means. RIP |

Wow, what a run! It's sad to lose such a legend, of course, but he must've led an amazing and full life. Rest in peace, Saito-sensei, and condolences to his family, friends, and staff.
As Lord Geo says, Saito had been largely hands-off with Golgo 13 for decades. In Manga! Manga!, which was published in the early 80s, there's a brief passage describing how Saito Production is run. The studio relies on outside writers and has a decently-sized staff of assistants whose creative input is valued and encouraged, which is unusual in the manga field. Saito saw himself as the equivalent of a film director, whose main role is creative control. If Saito wanted the series to continue after his death, clearly he trusts his staff members to carry it on with a satisfactory level of quality. |

What a legend. I encourage everyone to check out Saito's interview with Urusawa on Urusawa's 'Manben', you can find it on Youtube too. I'm glad to see the spirit of Goglo will continue on but Saito will be missed. May he rest in peace with Miura and the other legends.

Apparently a tweet from his studio Saitou-Production said the series would continue with assistants and editorial still working on it. https://twitter.com/saitoproduction/status/1443065560774823939?s=19

I just wonder if Golgo will cover the Haitian President assassination. R.I.P. to him, too.

Yeah, I was researching Golgo 13 once and discovered he often used outside writers. I added the ones I was sure of the romanization to the encyclopedia.

Miura had an abrupt death that probably even himself didn't see it coming when it happened. He wasn't terminally ill and neither he was THAT old,so it's unlikely he was setting things to make sure other people could finish Berserk for him.And if he did,his staff hasn't said anything so far(if ever...) |
