I agree on everything with the first two episodes, it is a great return to form for what made the series strongest, with some changes that just might make it stronger.
It is also indeed a shocking twist to have the student president of one of these shows actually be overruled by an adult in charge, it is almost like all my past experiences will be of no use in predicting the future at this shocking twist. |

After watching the two episodes, I already feel that Tang Keke will shows strong presence and might become the most popular girl of the group. The Love Live franchise always have gray haired girls that can be more popular for many fans than the main protagonist girls. Yes I'm talking about Kotori, You and Kasumi. They're just merely deuteragonists. As a fan of the franchise, I'm not one of them. I always root on the main girls, Honoka, Chika, Ayumu and Kanon.

After being pleased by the Nijigasaki anime, I decided to check this out. It's cute, and I might watch more. But I'm not gonna lie, Keke's voice annoys the living hell out of me. I mean, her singing is fine, but her speaking voice makes her sound like a broken squeak toy, and it's really grating to my ears. I do genuinely like Kanon as a main character though. She reminds me of Miu from 22/7 but not as cynical and nihilistic.
Though...please, I swear to God, Superstar, please don't shoehorn in scenes where a character grabs peoples' boobs. If that happens, I am dropping Superstar like a hot potato and never looking back. |

That has only been Nozomi, right? Which at this point probably was not the best representation of the most likely Sapphic member of the franchise. |

I read that Mari from Sunshine sometimes did it, too. But I haven't seen it, so I could be wrong. |

Mari does it too a couple times. It almost feels like they did in Sunshine just because someone did it in the 1st series. Superstar seems to be going for a different vibe than both tho so I'm also hoping they drop the grab bits |

Yep, Mari does it, but she gets in trouble every time she does (like You shoulder throwing her in reflexive self defence or Kanan saying she's going to hit Mari) whereas Nozomi literally used it to threaten people. I hope it doesn't make a comeback...
Not 100% but they've only ever shown 5 characters. They could do something like Niji did and add more in future but currently it's only 5. Anyway, I'm enjoying superstar so far! It's a lot of fun. I love the animation and that quick comic timing is back in full swing. Kanon is a great character; it's pretty amazing to see a character in an idol show who actually seems kinda real. She really does seem like a mostly typical teenager, so I've been enjoying that. Keke is... Ok? I find her annoying at times and other times I like her. I enjoyed the random noises she made while struggling with running, and her OTT enthusiasm (which beats Honoka and Chika's even) is pretty amusing. As for the others, I can't say yet but I'd already decided Sumire was my favourite character back when the characters were announced so I'm looking forward to seeing her more. I really like the fact they've properly divvied up the responsibilities. In past LL they did just kinda bs it a bit with stuff just magically coming together (though both LL and LLS did touch on song writing and costume designing at least), so it's cool seeing Kanon actually working on a song. I can't say any of the songs have stuck with me so far but usually I don't like the anime songs as much as the album only songs for LL in general. |

That's an odd comment to make regarding Love Live. It's not like the franchise ever bothered building one single, unified canon. Every LL story is its own thing. Yes, the Nijiyon 4komas aren't canon to any other LL story, but so what? The games, animes, mangas, and so forth also don't share a canon with each other. Everything is official, but also independent of each other as far as continuity is concerned, so talking about what is canon or not is pointless. |

Maybe it’s the drought, but this episode was SO good!
I love that the show is playing with the conventions set by the original and Sunshine. Instead of worrying that people might not show for their debut concert, these girls are worried that they won’t be able to sing if they do. The emotions feel just a bit more grounded thanks to that. It also helps that every Liella song so far sounds like something that could be the grand finale number in the other series. |

No comment about Keke literally worshipping the poster of her favorite idols? This girl is the living embodiment of everything goofy and campy about Love Live, and I love her for it.
