Interesting how DA: rebooted the series and ended up having more episodes than the original series.

I think this is the first time a Digimon theme song is performed by a Kpop group. The reboot has been incredibly average as a whole but the ending theme songs are still great.

The endings are great. But it's also kinda sad when an ending displays more personality and characterization than most of the rest of the show's runtime

After how the Adventure remake has turned out, I personally don't even want that.
I so wanted to like Adventure 2020, but it's been a disappointment on everything except the occasional moments of sakuga. Combined with how much of an utter mess Tri was, I've become convinced that no one at Toei right now has any idea how to actually handle a Digimon series. Maybe it's time the anime side of this franchise goes into hibernation once again...

That's not even funny anymore, sure Taichi is the hero and has done a lot, but is that any different from the original?
Now tell me about the other characters, when were they ever helpfull in the original?
Everyone is getting their time to shine in this remake even Joe and Mimi are amazing, tell me one good thing these 2 did in the original.
Look at Takeru for example, other than Devimon and Piedmon when did Patamon ever help at something? In the remake he's constantly fighting alongside everyone, if not as Angemon it's Pegasmon, and recently as Goddramon agains Milleniunmon.

Nah, it should stay on for as long as they want. Why, so Dragon Ball Super doesn't come back on TV.
There's also the Digimon Survive game which according to a recent Toei quarterly report is supposed to come out this Fall but given that it's been MIA in terms of news since Covid started, it probably got delayed to 2022.

Both were amazing in the original, getting some really great character moments, from Mimi's episode during the Myotismon arc to Jo stepping out of the shadow of his family to Mimi grieving for her fallen friends. The final episode was even focused around Mimi learning to accept that she had to leave Palmon behind.
They were far better off in getting to display who they are as people and their growth over their journey, something the new show sorely lacks.
To put it another way, while the original definitely placed attention on Taichi and Yamato, it was an order of magnitude different than what Colon has done. Adventure had eight characters because they wanted to explore different ways kids handle the digital world, with eight different arcs. Colon has eight characters because that's what was there in the original, but they all are basically just accessories to Taichi the Hero.

Are you sure you're not confusing Adventure and Adventure:?

Okay, everybody, look. All I seem to be hearing around here is that the current show supposedly isn't as good as it could be/could've been because it isn't like previous shows (especially, the original Digimon Adventure). You all have to remember, this is supposed to be a full reboot; a show that's meant to stand on its own, where you don't have to have seen previous shows in order to get the most out of this one.
I'll be direct. I don't think some of you are being fair. If anything, it stays true to the spirit of the original show even if it isn't exactly like the original. For instance, Mimi isn't a sheltered cloudcuckoolander, but they didn't make her that different, either. Sure, it does have its problems. For example, I didn't like how the show splits them up, then reunites them...only for them to be split up again, along with other "dark and edgy" moments. There were even a couple or so moments that I felt played with the viewers' emotions, plus it seemed to take forever for Takeru and Hikari to join the chosen ones. Despite all this, however, the show isn't really that bad, either.
I was personally never expecting much from this show, but for the most part, it does what it sets out to do, although I didn't like some of the shortcuts it took to keep itself interesting. In any case, hopefully the show will end on a good note...

It's not a matter of comparing it to the original or not but just on it's own merits the character writing in the reboot is very surface level at best. Yes the characters will get individual moments to shine but even the Mimi episodes have very superficial writing at best. We don't learn anything about the characters' family life or their interests and dreams outside the bare minimum. Outside the kids, the Digimon partners are basically extensions of their partners' personality, and the villains barely talk or go into their motives. Millenniumon should have been a huge event for the series but he was basically mindless and had no purpose and was pretty easily defeated as soon as the kids had their confrontation. Even 50+ episodes into the show, we still don't really know why the kids are in the Digital World or what their goal is and we've barely seen any of the supporting human cast. Also you can like things other people don't? But people shouldn't have to soft peddle criticism of something just because you like it and we shouldn't have to explain that every time something critical is said of a popular media that makes tons of money from toys and streaming. Digimon is fine. It doesn't need people to defend it. But I don't even really hate the reboot. I just want it to be better and I'm going to be honest about what I feel about it's shortcomings.

And it just doesn't; this is the issue at the core of most complaints. I love the original Adventure and still went into this one -knowing- it was a reboot and doing it's own thing. But it is a lazy, lowest-common-denominator anime with a rare smattering of really nice animation moments in a sea of mediocre ones. These are flaws you can see without having to make comparisons to anything else in the franchise.

lol... With the studio that make detective pikachu.. I never watched so idk how it was, but it looked good. They have the technology to start live action digimon movies and I think they could be the best mad anime Live actions because it isn't too crazy like most shonen anime. Kids look fairly normal and if you can make transformers and detective pikachu A digimon tamers movie that was basically supposed to be a real life version of digimon writes itself... hollywood is stupid.
