I’m glad they reached their target. They should really include a CD of the audio drama with the blu-ray set.

I love Odd Taxi, but $246 for 12 episodes? No.

Japanese Blu-rays of anime are always meant to be expensive AF. |

Odokawa is already cute!
Also yeah that price is insane, I payed around that much (if not cheaper) for skyrim legendary edition and that came with a giant bitching dragon figurine and a bunch of other goodies. |

It's the standard in Japan....and some other anime series are even more expensive! |

Glad they reached their goal but high prices are not surprising.
It was definitely anime of the season if not better. |

I agree it is ridiculous. On the bright side, the high prices mean that the video rental market is still going (relatively) strong in Japan. |

And really, this is relatively cheap by Japanese standards, as a lot of BD/DVD/LD/VHS releases over the years have gone for* ~$30-40/ep, rather than the $20.50 seen here. If decreasing prices actually increased sales, we'd expect to see a lot more than 300-500 sales made. But since the anime home video market has repeatedly (in Japan and elsewhere) demonstrated inelastic demand, the prices are kept high to avoid losing money by having similar sales numbers at reduced prices. *assuming a 100JPY <-> 1USD exchange rate, which of course has fluctuated over time |

That's actually a fairly good deal, as per most BD boxset releases. There's series that cost over 10,000 yen per volume of 4 episodes. Under $300 for 12 episodes is better than average. |

I'm well aware of how badly the Japanese are robbed for a handful of episodes. That isn't to say that it's right. |

What? How is it not "right"? They sell it that way because they've tried lower prices, which barely result in higher sales and end up with lower income for the producers in the end. People can see the series for free on streaming services or TV - the discs are only for collectors. It's amazing how some people feel so entitled to low prices on luxury goods. |

As others have said this is fairly cheap for a box.
Try looking at the full price of Fruits Basket BDs now THAT is daylight robbery |

$200+ for 12 episodes is absurd. It's not entitlement to not want to be ripped off. |
