The name of the recent chapter was "Final Act begins", so I'm curious if it was called 'Arc' somewhere else because there is a difference.

HeroAca always had a "time bomb" on it's name since we can't follow the characters on their pro lives if the series is called "Academia".
Maybe it will end, or maybe change to "Boku no Hero Agency", time will tell.

Yea I believe that was just a regular title that misled many into believing this was the final arc. It was mention from day one, Deku stating " this is how I became the number one hero". so we are witnessing the events that lead up to this.
The question is does he become the number 1 being a student(or now vigilante) still or a time-skip adult Deku. Will beating AFO and saving/ killing shigaraki grants him the title. even if endevear career is over , even hawks, wouldn't best jeanist be number 1 then?

The original Japanese name is "Shūshō Kaimaku," which can be translated as "The Final Arc Begins."

Its been analyzed that the previous 2 acts contained 9 arcs.
The first act ended at the Hideout Raid and now the 2nd act ends with the arc that just now ended.
So following that, 9 arcs left until MHA ends and that doesn't take into account the actual length of the arcs, they could be short or really long.

I'm looking at God of Highschool right now where you only see a school for like a dozen chapters and for half of the webtoon The MC's are twice the age of a HS student

Wow, I didn't expect this! I'm somewhat behind (being a print reader), but even so, it's felt like the series had a ways to go yet.

Kinda surprised....it feels like he's only just started to scratch the surface...and we're already getting a final arc?
I guess it makes sense, with Deku getting 2 new powers in one arc. I honestly think that Deku getting all these powers was a mistake, and it always felt like a big escalation. I guess it's clear why, now.
Unless, this sets up a sequel and Deku's naive worldview ends up screwing him over in the end.

We've been so conditioned to accept Shonen franchises that go on for over ten years, people are forgetting that HeroAca has been in circulation for about seven years now.
Given how long Shonen final arcs generally stretch, the series might end late 2022 or early 2023.
That's honestly a pretty acceptable length for a series like this. Keep in mind that Demon Slayer only ran for four years.

Makes me wonder if Horikoshi decided to do 400 chapters. But with Attack on Titan ending, it seems all the good ones are following suit. This has been one of my top favorites.

Other SJ series had their final arcs go on for years, so not much to be concerned about if you worried that the end is right around the corner. Also this could just be the end of the Academia arc. Horikoshi has been moving through the school year during the story, so it's clear that at some point our main cast would eventually graduate. Whether or not the story will continue is another question. Though we could always just get a time skip and jump to them being pros.

In the end, we at ANN decided to change the word to "Act" because that's what the official English translation (from Viz Media) used. But to be clear, the kanji used in the Japanese version of the chapter title could be translated either way.

Not really a surprise here, if you be following the manga right now, it does feel like MHA is heading towards a final grand climax since last year. Though it wouldn't surprise me either if once it ends, for Horikoshi to do a sequel series about Deku's adult adventures.

It's not just that, but also the general desire of anime fans to have more episodes of everything (or at least everything they like). Whether it's a one-season wonder or 966+ episodes of One Piece, it's gotta have more seasons, more episodes, remakes, spinoffs... we can't just let anything conclude.
As a fan of Stories That End, I don't have anything against this. Though it does seem pretty likely there will be a My Hero Careeria or My Hero Next Generationia or whatever afterward.
