I'm someone who firmly believes that a person's work should be divorced from the person him/herself. No matter their beliefs, opinions or criminal history, it doesn't affect the quality of their work, their right to get fairly compensated for it nor my ability to enjoy it. I'm not letting my enjoyment be predicated on someone else's behavior.
For instance, I disagree with J. K. Rowling and think she's losing it, but I am still as big a fan of the Harry Potter franchise as I was all those years ago. When I pay money for Harry Potter merchandise, I'm well aware that that money goes to someone who I disagree with, but I still think she deserves it for the work that she's done. Similarly, I think that it's repugnant that the translator possessed CP, but has absolutely nothing to do with the work that he's done on the manga professionally. To me, the cries for boycotting or redoing the translation are ridiculous. It's because of rhetoric like this that those with a criminal record find it hard to reintegrate into society. One could argue that they deserve all the scorn that they get, but isn't that what jail is for? The legal system is there for a reason. Even people who have committed crimes deserve fair and equal compensation for their work. In addition, these projects are almost always a collaborative effort. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater because there are a ton of other people who worked hard on these projects as well who will be taken down simply by association. |

I do agree that, yeah, he's not going be getting any money if people buy the mangas he's translated now, but the only other good thing is that hopefully like Matsuki, he will never be able to work anymore, and won't be able to walk around down the street without people knowing what he has done and with them rightfully treating him like garbage.
Either way, fudge him and all the sick, sad, pathetic monsters who participate in crimes like this, and I hope he gets the book thrown at him (according to laws in his state that's a Class 6 Felony for possession, a Class 3 felony for distribution and at least a 5 - 20 year sentence). |

As a note, the current chapter that dropped today(134) is listed with a different translator.

This is pretty light on detail, since he was a translator, was he translating some doujinshi with children character or were they pictures of real human?

It most likely was the latter. |

This isn't something I'd be worried about. As pointed out by others, the translator isn't nearly as closely attached to the title as the creator/artist/writer or even the publisher. And you don't have to worry about supporting them, they don't get any sort of residuals, they're just contractors. Viz has already replaced him on the manga.

Actually the new translator, John Werry, started at chapter 133, though apparently the bonus chapter of 132.1 (in viz's case) was done by the now arrested translator even though it came out on Dec 13 and was arrested the day after ch 132 was published. Very weird with the timeline in that case. Nonetheless, I was really worried we'll have another "Act-Age" scenario going on here, especially with the second cour of the anime coming out next week. |

I doubt see why the will cancel the original work over the arrest of a translator. |

Before I read the whole title, I thought the author was arrested. |

I've sent informative information to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund for the past few years in defense of anime/manga to try and prevent another Christopher Handley situation from happening again. Here's the proof. http://cbldf.org/?s=Jeffrey+Rolek |

I agree, it's very unlikely this is anime related. It looks like Stefan was previously picked up in Japan 6 years ago while teaching English there for installing a hidden camera in a girls change room at an elementary school. https://www.sankei.com/region/news/140716/rgn1407160030-n1.html |

Lmao.... They pinned this as a headline article on the website (kind of weird in the first place) and then took it down the same day to put up a Jujustu Kaisen English translated release full banner advertisement. Kind of hilarious.

Where/how did you find that, I haven't seen this tidbit mentioned anywhere and I usually keep pretty good track on things? If true, that certainly adds context to what kind of person he is... Also, anyone going to that page better copy/paste the text to deepl instead of directly translating with google. Trust me, the difference is night and day... |
