If they're gonna use a masturbating joke, why plug MHA? Normies have no idea what's out there

I saw it myself. Apparently someone in the writers room or production staff is a fan.

Anime in general is probably lost on normies, especially the older generation that watches John Oliver, but MHA is the most popular anime and manga in the US so if any series has a chance at being recognized it's that one, aside from the endless jokes about Speed Racer, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon. Although to be fair, one of the writers could have just Googled "popular anime poster" and put it there since they know teens like anime and it was the first thing they found.

I don't watch that show but if it was a masturbating joke there were a lot of more obvious choices. In my opinion the medium is oversaturated with fanservice, could have easily used any promo image from DxD or a similar anime, if it was too provocative to air by their (double) standards then even better cause they could censor it and make a joke about that.
Whatever, it seems to be just another joke at people society like to ostracize and not worth lasting attention(pretty sure the whole show is about making fun of various groups).

The video in the article is from 2 days ago and has 5 million views, so I'd say people do, yes.

I know, it was a rhetorical question. I'm just amazed that anyone can stand to listen to him for more than a few minutes.

Actually, no. It's more like an expanded and in depth Jon Stewart open, tackling issues of the week and exposing hypocrisy, and corporate and government shenanigans, and such.
And it wasn't a "masturbation joke" per se, and it wasn't making fun of teens. It was a satirical comparison between the AZ idiots shouting "Count the Vote" at workers counting the vote, and a father shouting for his son to keep jerking it. Neither needs someone demanding they do what they're already doing. The poster just signaled "teenager." Any anime image would've worked, didn't need to be a sexy one.

I do and, as you can see, I am not American.
I assumed none of you watched the video when he talked about AK48
