You know, ADV, Geneon, Central Park Media and Bandai USA? What were the final animes they released on DVD before they closed up shop?

It's tough to find a list sorted by release date of the dvd, not in alphabetical order or simply original release date of the anime itself.

Sadly, there doesn't seem a quick and easy way to do this. One way is to do a Google search to find out when one of those companies ceased releasing anime (for example, Geneon didn't release anything after November 6, 2007). Then you go to the Geneon wikipedia page that lists all 148 titles it ever released. You either try to guess which titles were released in 2007 and click on those entries or you actually click on all 148 titles and see when they were released. This is all assuming that somebody hasn't already done the research and posted it on the Internet somewhere that Google (or some other search engine) can find, of course.

You can use the ANN Releases database, going backwards through time from when companies shut down, and sort by distributor to see when the last releases came out. For instance, I've found that CPM's final releases were some manga on April 1st, 2008. CPM's last DVD release was a re-release of Darkside Blues on 2-27-07. Their last new anime released on DVD was apparently Animation Runner Kuromi 2 on 5-9-06.

It may be possible that ADV technically still exists and hold the rights to some anime or other properties. I know I saw something at a Best Buy with an ADV logo just a couple years ago. But they do not license anything anymore.

You can search IMDB by company and order by initial release date.

For instance, the last ANIME ADV licensed and released seems to be Devil May Cry- but they immediately transferred it to Funimation after folding.

release#11715

two weeks after releasing the final volume of Kanon
release#11738
