Ok... The overall quality of Both Angel beats and Charlotte suffered a lot because they haven't had a higher episode count... Hopefully they learned their lesson this time.

They say third time is the charm Laughing

Watched the first 10 minutes of the first episode this morning and stopped because I can’t stand the girl. I’ll try again later, but it’s hard to imagine wanting more of this than we’re already getting. I’ll give it a Three Episode Test, but despite my affection for prior Key works, this one is definitely on probation.

Also, it’s an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Angel Beats! needed more episodes. They added two full-length OVAs after the fact (“Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “Hell’s Kitchen”) and neither improves the series. In fact, I’d argue they significantly worsen it, particularly the later one that they made alongside Charlotte. Plus, there’s some genuine flabbiness in the middle of the series, after Kanade has been tentatively accepted into the group but before the arc with the shadows really gets going. I know they built out a huge cast in expectation of a longer run, but seriously, do you think plumbing all their sad backstories one by one would really have made this show any better? I don’t. TBH, I think you could refocus AB! on just the core cast and tell a solid movie-length story (or better yet, convert it to a stage musical).

Another anime with generic copy-paste male protagonist.
