Great article, i'll watch the videos right now. I'd love to play the game but I just can't deal with another gacha game.
Also some of the things you touched on, namely the nightmare in the dungeon get revealed in the recent volumes of the LN so hopefully we'll see it animated someday.

It's too bad the literal translations and lack of editing made the Astrea Record events basically unreadable.

I noticed occasional issues but did not find that to be a pervasive problem.

Would have been nice if after Crunchyroll ended their involvement with the game they added back in the touch feature that was left out.
Also boo on you for not mentioning Grand Day. Every cast member that anime viewers will be familiar with all come together for a common goal. I especially love the development between Bell and Lefiya.
Another interesting dynamic that develops over several events is the one between Chigusa and Ottarl. You'd never expect meek little Chigusa to be able to get Orario's strongest adventurer to listen to her.
That one Christmas event dropped some major hints towards Syr's identity which was unexpected.
One thing to be careful of is that the game might make you like certain characters a lot more, only to then find out what happens to them in the main story...

Excellent write up. I thought the 2nd Anni story was better than the 3rd, but still quite enjoyable overall. Much better than you'd expect in a gatcha game.
Quote: | The arc does not, unfortunately, connect the climactic battles with major established follow-up events, such as the Nightmare on the 27th Floor or the slaughter of Astrea Familia which sent Ryu on a revenge streak against the surviving members of Evilus; those may well be stories for another day. |
I had thought (and hoped) this is where the story was going when it first started, so I was a little disappointed when it didn't. Hopefully we get to see this at the next anniversary

It definitely seemed to be worse than it had before, likely due to the current circumstances, but I didn't find it to be so bad that I couldn't play. Perhaps it got patched early on?

I am extremely bitter that this isnt available to play for me. Im not sure if its due to it not being available in my country or my device not being good enough. Those videos are nice and all but its completely different from actually being able to play it and experience it first hand especially with season 3 finally airing tomorrow.

Another interesting fact, Liliruca shows up twice as a "blink and you miss it" character amongst a set of reacting characters. In her normal/current era sprite. Thus confirming her statement that she is older than Bell, probably by five or six years.
We also get more info about Bell's parents than is in the article.
And Syr also shows up, with a younger character model, adding an interesting twist to some of the fan theories about her.

Lili herself confirmed all the way back in vol 8 that season 2 skipped that she's older than Bell. she's 15
And about Syr the upcoming Freya centered LN vol will also delve into her history that should put those theories to rest not to mention that vol 16 of the main story will focus on her.

'Familia Chronicle Episode Freya' came out last year,it's english release is slated for Oct 20th.
The main story's volumes 16 is slated for a Oct 14th release in japan, whereas the engilsh release is close to two years behind - Vol 15's english release in Nov 17th.
Volume 16's promo-line includes a bit about Bell going on a date with Syr..and it's cover.
But point being the official english releases off Danmachi, they're behind the times.

I know all of that but Im referring to the English release in the case of Episode Freya. I follow up on their release dates. Nothing can be done about the late releases as Yen Press is well known for that as well as changing release dates unexpectedly.
