so glad to see One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 still in the top 10 despite the 1-2-3 combo of RE3, Animal Crossing and FF7 Remake.
I'll be giving it my support hopefully soon |

These first week sales for FF7 Remake are slightly lower than FF15, which sold 716K in its first week. And it's a good deal lower than the original FF7, which sold over 2 million in its first week. Still, I believe this is the 4th best opening performance for a PS4 game after Monster Hunter World, Dragon Quest 11, and FF15.
I have to wonder if digital made up a larger chunk this time around though with Covid-19 perhaps dampening physical sales. |

Well, FF7 Remake, so far, is only on one platform while FF15 launched multiplat. And there is also the whole issue with it not being a full remake, it being very likely to be released on other platforms (including next gen, I'd assume) in a year, possibly with better visuals, performance and maybe even extra content. All factors that have made many people say "eh, I'll wait for the full experience". Also, many were disappointed in Kingdom Hearts 3 (same director) and quite a few people also didn't like FF15 (both of those games were in the same generation as this remake) so maybe people were extra wary of this one. FF15 released after many years of Versus XIII hype, was the first one to come out this gen and was marketed as a mainline title, while 7 is "just" a (partial) remake.
So not all that surprising for FF15 to have sold better, even if you take FF13's reception and meme status into account. |

As far as Japan goes FF15 was pretty much a single platform release like FF7. Xbox doesn't really matter over there. All those 716K sales were on PS4. And I do think there's a good chance FF7:Remake managed to outsell FF15 if digital sales are included. So it's not like sales are bad. I'm just throwing out some comparisons because I think it's interesting to see sales numbers relative to other FF games. And yeah, there's plenty of reasons that can be given for why FF7 Remake didn't sell more, but I think it mostly comes down to the fact that Final Fantasy just doesn't sell as much in Japan anymore. It works out well enough for Square-Enix though because the rest of the world still buys plenty of Final Fantasy games. |

Keep in mind this is only Japan's numbers and physical copies at that. PSN reports an estimated 2.3 million for the digital version in three days.

Yeah I honestly derped a little bit here. I, SOMEHOW, forgot we were talking strictly Japan sales... Dunno how I managed to do that but here we go.

Nice! I like it. I saw some interesting games in this article I wish to try. After I will end with Overwatch, of course. I've started to play Overwatch not so long ago and I like it very much. Too bad I don't have enough time to boost my own character. One of my friends told me that I can just buy Overwatch boosting and take a ready character. I think I will do this exact thing, because I can play this game only 2 hours per day or something like that. Being a busy man sucks.
