Good lord, they made a game about curling? Japan has officially run out of ideas.

Emerje

Could have been bowling, too. Whatever. A while back, I predicted that a curling anime or manga would show up sooner or later.

I got a "403 Forbidden." Some Japanese websites have histories of banning accessing from foreign* IP addresses, such as Getchu and Anison Generation. Can anyone else access it?

*That "foreign" does not include United States.
Or should I call it "the real master of Japanese government and businesses."

It is just as likely whatever passes as the Taiwanese internet porn patrol is blocking you (or whatever country your IP is located in), dormcat Rolling Eyes . The site loaded OK for me but the original URL took me to a Japanese "age content warning page." Seeing I can't read Japanese, I figured this out by waving my cursor around the bottom of the and seeing what the two options for the links were (then picked the link that looked correct and it let me in) Wink .

I'm pretty sure that I've seen a chapter of curling in either Magikano or Muteki Kanban Musume. I'll double check it in 30 minutes...

You don't quite know what Getchu and Anison Generation did to us, do you? I didn't pay attention when Getchu started the ban, but when Anison Generation started it restricted your IP address must have one of the three following suffixes: .jp, .com, or .net. Basically this allows only Japanese and American users. I circumvented via the proxy server of my grad school (.edu), but not much longer Anison Generation lifted the ban.

Edit as I type: Heck, a friend of mine whose domain name ends in .net (but still in Taiwan) can access Fuguriya, while neither me nor another friend (we use different ISPs but both with .tw domain name suffix) plus a friend at Hong Kong can't. There are plenty of Japanese websites doing this, and I REALLY hate this sort of discrimination. Mad

As Mikuru is holding a chocolate heart, it's probably for White Day. Or at least I'm pretty sure White Day is the day girls give chocolate to people. There is another one for boys, but I think White Day is for girls.

Nope, it's the other way round. In Japan, girls give chocolate to their hearts' desires on Valentine's Day, and one month later, on White Day, the boys reciprocate.

Question: I need to know who holds the licensing rights here in the US for Ronin Warriors. I want to show it at the upcoming Anime Convention in Alaska (www.senshicon.org). I already have a line up selected and approved by Bandai, however they informed me that they no longer had the rights to Ronin Warriors.

I've been looking all over the internet, and everywhere else says bandai, which makes me think that the licensing went up a short while ago. Does this mean that the anime is currently un-licensed here in America and that I can show it? Or does some other company have it now that im not aware of?

No, I hadn't heard about this. So have Getchu or Animson Generation ever say why they did it? Also, was it just .tw that were being blocked or were there more country domain suffixes involved?

Really, I've never heard of Getchu or Animson Generation before this to begin with and I am not sure how popular these sites really would be to general U.S. internet users. It sounds to me like it was a sloppy attempt to try and keep out all non .jp traffic but allow Japanese users who don't live in Japan to access the sites by using their work or educational connections (seeing those are usually .com .net or .edu in many countries, not just in the United States). [That said, I don't know much about how, or better who, the .com and .net suffixes are given out to. I didn't think it was just U.S. sites that could use those (I've seen Canadian sites use those suffixes as well).]

Anyway, I am sorry to hear your getting blocked by these companies. U.S. users get blocked off of non US media sites as well - you just don't hear about it that much around here (such as the BBC blocks non UK users from the Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventure show sites, which drives many of my friends in Doctor Who fandom nuts (both US, Canadian and NZ fans) Sad .

Ah, so I got them mixed up. Thanks for the clarification.

Bandai was the one with the DVD rights, but I'd imagine they've expired by now. The DVD set came out about three years ago, maybe more. You could try contacting Bandai, but I'd guess they no longer have the rights. But if anyone does, it would be them.

I was wondering if anybody could help me identify the anime, if there is one, that this girl is in because a friend linked me this picture, and I have seen her once somewhere before but can't remember.

If you have the answer can you PM me because I sometimes forget to check back on these things. Thank you for your help in advance.

Like I said, I already contact them and they said they no longer held the rights to it, so I'm a little confused as to who has the rights, or if no one has the rights, does that mean I can show it without being sued by a company in the US?

Just wondering, How many years would it take for licensed anime to be expired?

It depends, most licenses I believe go for around 4 or 5 years.

Like I said, if they no longer have the R1 rights to it, then no one does. So.... I guess just show it? Honestly, I doubt anyone is going to care much if you show the legit DVDs at a club anyway, particularly something that is OOP and no one holds the R1 license for.
