I attended this screening—my third cheering screening for this movie. It’s a really fun way to see the show since you don’t have to hold back and can scream your lungs out for your fav. Not only that, it’s free comedy too because the fans will interact with the characters by doing things like asking obvious questions or reacting humorously to lines or even just making off the cuff jokes.
If you have the opportunity to go to one of these (the Japanese is 応援上映, or “ouen jouei”), I encourage it!! |

Just to add a little perspective, Promare ranks 134th in worldwide box office revenues for 2019.

Box Office Mojo's numbers are a little outdated for Japan. It only lists US$6,780,175 in Japan for Promare, when the movie has earned US$13 million in Japan as of Wednesday. With Box Office Mojo's (possibly outdated) totals for other territories, that adds up to US$14.7 million, so it should be at least #119 on the worldwide box office chart. |

I was mostly making the point that seeing box office revenues in yen can lead one to overestimate a movie's success. 1.4 billion yen looks like a really big number, but in reality as the article itself reports, that's only $13 million US dollars. Even if we bumped up the international revenues following your lead on the domestic boxoffice, Promare is still likely to be below the top-100 2019 films by gross.

The one thing I never understand is Japanese conversion rates. LOL!! So this movie made that much money. That's impressive for an animated film. I really should take in this film while it's still playing here in NYC. I do like Studio Trigger and their animation so I know this is going to be nice and flashy. A film deserving of a movie screen not some 42" HD TV. Well, nothing wrong with that.
