Well Japan and America treats scandals differently. Also, sexual harassment allegations VS snorting coke are a widely different issue so Vic would obviously get the worse treatment.

Harsh or perhaps overreacting, but I wouldn't say it's "unfair". Drug laws and how people react to drug usage is different in Asia, and the people there should be aware of the consequences involved should they ever be caught using or even in possession of them.

The part that really bothers me is the weird revisionist take; like, sure, don't fund any future/unreleased projects and have the guy do his time, but why scrub this guy from the face of the earth?

Vic was canned on allegations. Taki was actually arrested and has criminal charges leved against him because he failed a drug test. Not really the same thing.

Celebrities going in and out of rehab all the time is basically a spectator sport here. And it's practically a law if you're a rapper you have to brag about how much drugs and gang violence you do in your songs if you want any street cred.

They do that all the time here too. Happened to Cosby, currently happening to R Kelly and Michael Jackson again. Outrage mobs basically call for everything about the individual to be wiped from the face of the earth. It kinda makes sense for people actually arrested or convicted, like Cosby, but for people who were never arrested or hell, actually found innocent in court, it's just a knee jerk reaction by companies to appease the mob.

The inability to separate celebrity from the actual work is silly. Refuse to do business with him/her in the future? Fair enough. But if reprehensible or criminal behavior deserves erasure from history, there isn't much history to cover.

I was going to comment about Nobuhiro Watsuki. A slap on the wrist, a fine even I could pay and he's back to work in a few months. For child porn possession. I mean seriously, guy should of been thrown in jail and the key thrown in the river. There is no defence for what Nobuhiro Watsuki did. None at all.

Id id nto pay that much attention, what did watsuki did? buy oen of the old porn books that were legal before the law changes or full on support newly minted child porn ?

See, I see the opposite happening. Even with "outrage mobs", businesses don't as a whole seem to be erasing old content, they're just not producing any new stuff. You can still buy old Cosby DVDs or R Kelly CDs on Amazon even if no one wants to work with them anymore.

I don't know if it was newly minted or not, but he bought child porn *after* the new laws were put into place. Also, I don't know if when he bought it should really make it any less squicky and gross.

Can someone on here fully clarify what he did? People mention it evey time there's an article about a crime on here. Wasn't he found in possession of old illegal videos with young models or something? This was during a raid for a different reason at an office he worked at right? Which the tapes are creepy and gross, but since there wasn't sex involved in the tapes he didn't receive jail time according to Japanese law, and instead he had to pay a fine. There would have been a bigger punishment otherwise. That's what I just vaguely remember, but I could be completely wrong. There was a lot people saying different things about what he did and why his punishment was a fine, instead of prison.
