I've been trying to find IGLOO in stores for a month now. I have only found a couple of websites that are selling the first volume (released on Nov. 28 I think). Does anybody know why it is not in stores yet?

Considering how poorly the Gundam franchise has done in America that doesn't come as much of a surprise to me. I haven't seen it in stores either and didn't even think that it was released. You'll probably end up having to order it online and frankly it'll probably be cheaper if you buy it online. Of course Right Stuf's shipping costs could make it more expensive. http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/-rKbp9580zOrcVkgSX/browse/search/5/4/0/0/results/desc/asc/50/1

IGLOO is scarce because it's from Bandai Visual (not to be confused with Bandai Entertainment) and Bandai Visual only sells stuff from their website now because of the downfall of Geneon (well more like production limbo really) which was handling the distribution of their stuff. Geneon was having financial trouble and decided to make a deal with ADV for them to take over their production but it fell through and left Geneon screwed as they'd fired all their production staff ahead of time. So Geneon lost big and now is trying to revover. As a result Bandai Visual was also affected. There was an ANN article on it way back in October or November if you want to seach for it in the archives.
Someone else can probabally fill in the finer details on the matter because that's all I know. I don't buy stuff from BV because it's undubbed, expensive, and the episode counts per disc are a rip off. Last edited by Kruszer on Wed Jan 02, 2008 12:38 am; edited 2 times in total |

Thanks for the help. Almost 50 bucks for a dvd with 3 episodes on it seems like a rip-off to me. I'll probably just wait for a complete collection or just say forget it altogether. Unfortunately, I got into Gundam when it began to decline in this country. Again, thanks everybody.

Right Stuf is having a 20% off all inventory itmes which applies to the first Igloo in addition to free shipping on orders over $50. You just missed the preorder discount date on the second volume.

I thought each episode of this series was like 45 minutes long?
A while back a friend downloaded the fansub of the series but i couldn.t get past the first 5 minutes without my mind wandering or falling asleep. Yet the original Gundam movies kept me entertained ALL the way through... Different srokes I guess. |

The listing at TRSI has each 3 episode volume at standard episode length for a total of 80 some-odd minutes per DVD. The first volume is still in transit for me, but I will correct this statement if incorrect.
Although I keep telling myself that I won't spend money on BVUSA I keep ending up getting DVDs like Igloo which I couldn't avoid despite their prices. I actually debated between buying R1 Igloo and all three R2 Evolve DVDs that come out to about 12000 Yen since they are on sale 20-30% off at CDJapan. I ended up buying the Igloo discs along with both Turn A Gundam films (got the Turn A films at 75% off the 6000 Yen price tag) and am still considering the sale price on the Evolve DVDs. |
