I got like nothing from that pv other than semi-underwhelming visuals..... Still have no idea what to think about it yet.

OK, so if I get this correctly, the girls are also the fighter jets -- or rather, they're both the plane AND the copilot at the same time -- hence why they have names that are also fighter jet names? Does that mean there's only one of each type? Or are there several girls with the same name?

Is there any need for the jet to be bright pink? My understanding of this contingent of otaku is that the drab, battleship-grey liveries used for real military hardware is actually considered appealing when juxtaposed with standard moe characters. The two needn't be colour-coordinated.

No, the girls (Anima) are the Weapon Systems Officer (co-pilot and also function as advanced flight computer). They are separated individuals from the actual plane (Daughter).
They are named after actual fighter jets only for easy to remember naming.
