Very cool. Quality's pretty good... still wonder why no anime distributor's hooked up with itunes yet (or why Japanese companies don't just do it and cut out the middle-men.)

Ah, this answered my main question about this service--the series will be shown in their entirety. That's good news for the financially challenged among us.

I hope this works out for ADV. It looks like a win for everyone if it does.

Gotta love ADV. I really think they're going to be the forerunner in the future of anime. They seem to be a smart company that isn't afraid to adapt. Hopefully other can follow their example.

I'm a little unclear though, the article mentions RahXephon but I don't see it.

Also, I hope when they say they will be rotating 5 episodes out every thursday it doesn't mean that we will be losing episodes 1 - 5 by only this thursday. I'm gonna be busy with Christmas and won't have time to watch everything I want to.

Hopefully though, they will either just add some first without removing any so they have 10 or so or maybe they mean 5 total and not 5 per series.

It's owned by ADV, so I guess it's available on the TV channel but not the website for now.

Episodes 1-3 of every series except for TTGL have actually been up since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and the fourth episodes have been up since Thanksgiving. I'm surprised they're still there, I'm pretty sure it's been 28 days by now...

I just double-checked John Ledford's direct quote to ANN:

"We 'soft launched' Anime Network Online about a month ago with a minimum of fanfare, and the response has been very interesting to say the least. For one thing, there's a much smaller gap than we expected between some of our new, ongoing series like AH! MY GODDESS: FLIGHTS OF FANCY and popular series like RAHXEPHON, which has been out for a while."

We'll ask for a clarification.

I tried playing an episode a few times and I kept getting errors. Sad

EDIT: it's working now

This is great! It's nice to sample anime online for free without resorting to fansubs.

Yeah this thing is massively buggy. I find it works okay if you can get it running initially. It lagged occasionally but that could be fixed by just pausing it a minute.

Unfortunately most of the time you try and play it, it plays the comercial and then just stops. I was able to fix it by just returning to the menu and trying again a couple times the other day, but then yesterday i couldn't get it to work at all.

This system isn't going to make a bit of difference if it doesn't work at least most of the time.
