She’ll probably return for the home media release. They tend to do that with these things.

Aw, I sure hope so! She was one of the best parts of the dub!

Yeah, no offense to Megan Shipman. I was happy with her rendition of IF for the Neptunia dub and she's really talented, but Mayuri just isn't the same without Burch's voice.

I've been saying for a while that funimation needs to hire someone more voice actors. I hear every voice actor in every other anime I watch dub. It gets really annoying. Like Iran sinclair's voice really stand out to me and he's in like every dubbed anime now. There not bad voices it's just the same voice wherever you go.

Agreed. I suppose a lot will still depend on availability, but it should be easier to schedule. In my opinion, the biggest drawback of simuldubs is that it can be difficult for actors not living in Dallas to reprise roles.

...I don't see what this has to do with Ashly Burch. Besides, FUNi does hire new actors, they're just often not in the spotlight when they're just starting out. The female lead in this season's Angels of Death is played by a brand new actress, Meg McClain, and she's doing a really good job with the character.

I think Funi has a pretty good variety of voice actors. At least more than Bang Zoom or Sentai. Bang Zoom always has they typical LA anime VAs (Patrick Seitz, Erica Mendez, Max Mittelman, Keith Silverstein, etc.), and pretty much every Sentai dub has Luci Christian, Brittney Karbowski, and Adam Gibbs. Not saying they're bad, just that they tend to use the same VAs a lot.

Funi, on the other hand, has their own pool of VAs and also regularly pulls from Bang Zoom's and Sentai's talent pool as well.

In this particular instance, the only other anime role I think most people recognize Ashly Burch from is Sasha from Attack on Titan (which makes me worried if she'll be able to reprise that role). Similarly, Megan Shipman only has 3 anime roles that I think most people would recognize her from: Hanamura from Love Live Sunshine, Aoba from New Game, and Yuzu from Citrus. I wouldn't necessarily call that overused.

Anyways, I'm sad Ashly can't finish the role (especially with some big upcoming moments), but I'm sure Megan will do great in her stead!

Funimation Enteertainment

Hehehehe.

Also sucks when they have to change around voice actors. Hope the new one can pull of a very close voice.

I don't like dubs, but this shows one of the big issues with FUNimation as a company- dub everything as fast as possible and don't take the time to figure things out. It's quantity>quality now...

Why not fully dub a series until it's over? That way you have the whole series out, scripts can be written as it airs in Japan, and then the recording sessions will be fewer and will save more money... oh wait, money. That's why they do simuldubbing. Not quality- money.

I'm sure they'll fix it for the home video release, but it is sad to see her go. I will make sure to mention this in my review.

I never got the point of simuldubs for reasons such as this. That audience has proven to be stable; they'll wait for a dub, and if no dub arrives, they'll let that show sit in their backlog for a decade or two. It's people who don't watch dubs that want anime at breakneck speeds.

It’s likely that they did figure things out, but something unexpected had popped up and she couldn’t be able to continue working on this no matter how much she wanted to. Your tone here comes off as if this type of happens a lot more often than it actually does when Funi does a relatively good job with it. Besides, Funi wouldn’t keep doing this if people didn’t continue paying for it and I doubt that they would pay for subpar performances. It’s worked for people so far, and sometimes stuff happens and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. It’s that simple. That doesn’t mean they’re doing this by choice and/or incompetent.

Funimation fully knows the risks of simuldubs. Not knowing what happens to a character in a future episode they might cast a wrong VA because that etc.. There are a few situations another VA had to take over. In tales of zestiria S2 Bryce Papenbrook had to take over for Robbie Daymond due illness. And Snow White with the red hair S2 had a schedule problem too for a episode or 2. Correct me if im wrong, but i belleve both were fixed for home release.

And mate you seem to not understand the reason behind simuldubs. Its basicly for us fans so we can have dubs faster. I think they are doing a great job but their will always people like yourself that dont like it. But that is fine.

Firstly, who's Iran? I thought his name was Ian Sinclair. Secondly, if the voice aren't bad, then what's the problem? Seriously, this "VAs are overused" fallacy needs to die.

She's been spending too much time playing Dungeons & Dragons I would guess. Wink
