Guess they retired the "S.A.V.E." line and went with "Essentials"? It does sound a lot less cheapo, so probably a good move there!
As for me, just my Re:Zero, thank you very much! Just got in set 1, it's sooo pretty! I'd probably be more interested in Yona if I weren't already reading the manga and am WAY past where the anime ends. |

Bah! No BD for Witch Hunter Robin? Forget that then. I thought they might do an upscale like they've done in the past, which I would be totally ok with. Now they will probably squeeze it onto too few discs and over-sharpen it.

All the Sunrise/Bandai titles that Funi got have been delayed in some way or another. No idea why, except it seems to be on the Japan side as Funi has stated that they haven't gotten materials from Japan. I think they are losing money by delaying, because as more time passes there will be less people interested in these older titles. Newer fans haven't heard of some of these and are mostly going to focus on using their budget on newer hot titles. Its more difficult to make a sale when you have to compete with the glut of newer shows that are available now. Not putting it on BD makes it an even harder sale. Sure there are limits with what can be done with early 2000 shows, but there's been some perfectly acceptable upscales. There hasn't been any word that I've seen on Crest/Banner of the Stars series either. |

At least Funimation's had it better than Sentai, who've only been able to put out Big O I and Big O II since 2013. Most of Funi's Sunrise acquisitions were popular and well-liked, including Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Escaflowne, Code Geass, and My-Hime/Otome. Even WHR and Crest/Banner of the Stars got a degree of TV exposure and cult followings. Sentai got the dregs by comparison, aside from Big O and s-CRY-ed. The recent stuff like Kurokami, Sacred Seven, and Girl who Leapt through Space never made much of a splash, and while some titles like Argentosoma and Infinite Ryvius are respectable, I kind of doubt that many fans are desperate for the likes of Betterman and Brain Powered to come back into print. |
