People have been expecting it to come since 2006, even though it didn't start development until 2013. The first game everyone thought was KH3 later turned out to be the prequel "Birth by Sleep", and "Dream Drop Distance" is practically the prologue of KH3. |

It is around 2 years after 2.8's release, which contains 0.2 Birth by Sleep ~A Fragmentary Passage~, which like Dream Drop Distance is also partly a prequel to Kingdom Hearts III in both storyline and gameplay.

I love Kingdom Hearts to death, but I'm surprisingly not very upset about the delay. I was honestly sort of expecting it. At least I'll have time to finish FF12 Zodiac Age in the meantime (playing it for the first time, since I never got the game on PS2).
