I have this pre-ordered. I really wish I could have seen it in the theater.

^Me too I had plans to go travel to see it, but those fell through. The movie is now listed with English sub though, so I can see it in April.

This definitely felt more like one over-long film split into two parts than a cohesive film experience.

That's 'cause it is. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie: Detonation is the 2nd part.

Now that the movie has played in some US theaters, should the review be reposted? ^_-

I just got home from seeing it at a local theater. The plot was a little lighter than I had hoped for, having heard from a friend who saw it on Saturday that this movie was a part one, but the battles had the flashiness and destruction that I expect from Nanoha and friends.

I haven't yet placed my order with Amazon, but I'll be doing so soon. The presence of English subtitles, like the prior two films, just makes it an easier decision.

It's still weird they're releasing this movie in North America when none of the previous franchise is available on home video and Vivid isn't available anywhere, even on a streaming site. I hope this movie's release will encourage someone to re-release the original series on Blu Ray and to finally license Vivid.

That's what I'm hoping too. Yes, the import is there, but I'd love to see the rest of the series dubbed. I still have a DVD of the first season which is probably now prohibitively expensive on the secondary market (but not as much as A's).
