Most anime, I have at least an inkling about why someone would want to make it.

Takunomi? No clue. NONE.

Seems fairly evident to me. A slice of life show with a slightly more adult female cast, as opposed to school age, that probably will just be about friendships or changes in your life and accepting them etc.

Makes sense; maybe I'm just being dense (wouldn't be the first time). May have to keep an eye on the reviews.

Most giant robot anime, e.g. Gundam and Transformers, were initially sponsored by toy companies.

So this was sponsored by a liquor/beer company? Which one(s)?

I haven't seen it, so I've no idea what's in the credits.

I'm a little... surprised, I guess.

I don't know, and even if I do know there would be a non-disclosure until the scheduled official press release date. I just want to say that this type of manga/anime is perfect for tie-in cooperation projects.

For the record, I just saw the FamilyMart in my neighborhood selling Tanoshii Osushiya-san (たのしいおすしやさん) straight imported from Japan (with untranslated Japanese product description on the box). If I hadn't read Dagashi Kashi it would not even attract my attention as it was located on the "kids' toys / candies" shelf. Its price is higher than expected though: ¥250 in Japan but NT$150 in Taiwan when 1 JPY = 0.2683 TWD. Rolling Eyes
