How was Anime Now a sister site to ANN? I mean that literally. What does it mean?

I completely forgot this site existed and ANN hasn't posted anything from them in a long while IIRC so apparently they did too.

Too bad, they had some pretty good writing, and I never regretted following the links from ANN over to Anime Now.

I hope this doesn't constitute too significant a loss in ANN's revenue. That's my main concern about this development.

I don't think I've seen anything reposted here for some time, either. Then again, I'm only now noticing that.
It was pretty hit-or-miss whether what was re-posted seemed interesting enough for me to read, and aside from clicking a link, I didn't feel any motivation to visit regularly.

^ This, I read some of the articles but there was never any compelling reason to keep browsing the site.

I really liked their reports from early screenings of episodes in Japan.
If ANN could pick up the mantle and have some of their Japanese corespondents report on these early screenings, that would be awesome.

They had a timeline of mongatari that I used when I wanted to watch the entire mongatari serrires in chronological order. Plus they had some ok pieces every so often. RIP.

I just remember it being insubstantial until this article I didn't even know it still existed.

Hope that doesn't bode badly for ANN's future if the sister site was taken down.
I guess Anime Now wasn't turning a profit.

I will not miss them. The pieces that ANN linked were generally dumb and shallow.

I didn't even know they existed. But if they can't manage to keep a site alive for more than six months, that's probably to be expected.

I liked Anime-Now and am sorry to see it go. I wonder if it would be possible for ANN to archive all the articles they shared here? I always worry that my favorite anime sites will disappear (Still missing AnimeOnDVD.com) and I hope the rest are safe this year. Stay strong Anime-Planet, Anichart, Kitsu, MyAnimeList and of course ANN!
