Sounds good! Now if only they would also have that service in the US I think they would have a good winner...

Whoa!! Now this is news. And who said the DS couldn't handle movies. While PSP does this anyway it's cool that the DS can do this as well for Nintendo users.

Hm, this sounds just like the sale of UMDs... it seems to me that a company is simply taking advantage of the ease of memory card swapping for use with personal media on the DS. If they released a USB recorder for the UMD discs like the MiniDisc player had, then the stakes would be even... but for now, DS is ahead (and yay, since I have a DS and got rid of my PSP long ago).

Awesome, this sounds great! Exciting~

I'm actually not big on watching anime on such a small screen (not for PSP either) but it'd be cool to read manga or prose on it. Hope this comes to NA!

Can't we already do this?

The graphics are fair, but a mile short to PSP.

Converted and compressed, one ep is around 50 mb for me.

If you ask me anyone's better off getting a PSP... PSP users can convert and put any anime they want onto the memory stick, heck there are even Anime UMDs available if you want and the quality of those are superb. Also the new Slim PSPs have a TV-out feature that plays in 480p!

I don't know how manga would work... it'll be pretty useless unless they have a specifically formated manga that makes viewing more streamlined, but I suppose the DS touchscreen interface is good for that, you can get a preview page on the bottom and using the stylus move a square where you want that's zoomed up on the top screen, however reading manga on any handheld device that isn't formatted in some way doesn't sound good to me. I'll pass...

Quite interesting. Looks like it could be a hot import from Japan. Plus that's a cool feature for the Nintendo DS.

Um... I hate to break it to everybody, but you can do this already.
You can buy various 3rd party storage devices to play movies, mp3s, have PDA-like functions, view images, read comics, paint, IM, browse the internet, etc.

See? I'm not talking about copyrighted, illegally ripped games either. It's basically freeware for your DS.

Yes, but they don't contain the Nintendo seal of approval. That's the important part about this article. It's not about converting these things to play on the DS yourself, it's about having an online store devoted to selling this stuff for use on your DS.

I think the cellphone manga readers display one panel at a time. The DS will probably do something similar.
