So, anyone who has watched both of these series will realize immediately that the Lancelot, Guren Mk.II, Gawain, Nirvash type Zero, and Nirvash type TheEnd were all created by the same person. My question is, who is that person? I can't seem to find it on the encyclopedia page.
Anyway, I'm a big fan of his work. I like the whole "cock-pit comes out of the back" thing, and I really like how he incorporates different modes of transportation (cars, rollerblades, surfboards) into his designs. Does anyone know if he's created the mecha for any other anime? |

According to the Encyclopedia, the mechanical designer for Eureka Seven is Shoji Kawamori. He's also responsible for the mecha designs in Macross, and I believe Escaflowne as well.
Are you just going on personal opinion when you say they were created by the same person, because his credits don't include Code Geass. The character designs for Code Geass were done by CLAMP, but not sure how much they had to do with the mechanical design. Eureka Seven, if I recall correctly, was an original concept by BONES. Haven't seen Code Geass yet, but I might check it out now. |

Yeah, mostly. I just see the design similarities between Nirvash type Zero and Lancelot (their face, proportions, and overall shape) as well as the design similarities between Guren Mk.II and TheEnd (claw on the right arm, cockpit on the back which kind of frames the head, and an attack that includes intense vibrations at short ranges). The Gawain was a little more of a stretch, but I just figured it was probably done by the same person who did Lancelot and Guren Mk.II. Seeing as though there's five credited with mecha design for Code Geass though, I guess that's not a given. The Knight Police also bear a slight resemblance to the Terminus 505. I also somehow missed Kawamori's name when I looked at the Eureka Seven page. Sorry for the oversight. Still, they look so similar, it's hard to believe they were designed by two different people... EDIT: Update. It appears that Eiji NAKATA was heavily involved as an animation director and key animator in both series. He also did some design work for E7 from episode 15 onwards. Perhaps he had something to do with it? The fanbase may never know. Last edited by BleuVII on Thu Nov 29, 2007 10:53 am; edited 1 time in total |

I am forced to agree with Bleu. I didint notice it until he said something about it, but looking back, the designs are so damn close to one another it would only seem proper to assume they were created by the same people. Hell the damn mecha are spitting images of one another....
