I was just looking at my preorders for the next month and noticed that both Christmas and New Years day land on Tuesdays. There doesn't seem to be a larger number of titles in the weeks before or after to compensate for these lost weeks. Granted many titles ship before or after their release dates so I might not really notice the gap. It is going to be a good time for me to catch up on the to be watched pile.

Are you saying there's no new releases those weeks, or just that you don't have anything pre-ordered for those weeks? I believe ADV is releasing Kanon vol. 1 on New Year's Day, so there's at least one release on one of those holidays.
