Yes! Finally got confirmation (Knew for weeks since she was being announced in other works coming out soon.). I'm so glad Risa is coming back. Take your time. No need to rush.

With that said... I called it (Although, it's a week late since the prediction was for July):

No relation at all, but I want to be hopeful. Last August, Keiji Fujiwara announced that he would be taking leave to treat an unspecified illness. It was announced last week that he is planning on return. End of August/Early September (time zones), it was announced that she would be also taking leave to treat an unspecified illness. With that said, if the gods are good are kind, there will be an announcement next month stating that Risa is getting better.

Yes! Right in time for SnS season 3. And maybe now, when both Taneda and Fujiwara came back we can have a new Utawarerumono anime.

How do may voice actors end up getting vocal diseases and issues? Unless they're doing excessive work, shouting or similarly compromising roles?

Although they usually don't give specifics, I suspect that the work that VA's are doing is stressful on their vocal cords & throat. It appears that it can result in irritations & issues that you would not normally see in the general population.

In any case I'm very happy to see Taneda-san recover and return to work, looking forward to hearing her again.

Kind of an old reference, but look up Julia Andrews (American actress/singer) for a worst-case scenario.

Happy to hear she's doing much better now. That must have been some terrible illness to put her on hiatus for almost a year.

But they must have already started the recordings of the shows where Taneda was replaced, e.g. Shokugeki no Soma. Do they have to re-record her lines or do they leave Kanemoto's recordings and then the put Taneda back on board or something?

Exactly what I'm wondering.

Well, if they have pre-existing conditions like asthma or heart issues, that could be a factor.
