Best trailer of Comic-Con, by far.

I'm glad that we can read of this homage rather than having to see it ourselves. Judging by what I have learned about this book and its author, I most probably lack the capacity to endure watching the film trailer, susceptible as I am to second-hand embarrassment.

Uh, that title belongs to either Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Wreck-It Ralph.

When I saw the Iron Giant show up in the movie, I realized this was actually going to be Spielberg's long-awaited produced Roger Rabbit sequel--
Where he basically ignores anything that happens in the original book, in favor of a great sentimental blitz of recognizable licensed cameos of everything his 'Boomer childhood remembers along with us.
(Can you tell I was never really a Roger Rabbit fan? Razz )

My first hint was when he originally wanted Gene Wilder to make one last cameo as the game designer....Because he's like Willy Wonka, and they've all got golden tickets, get it, get it? Rolling Eyes

Ready Player One looks like it could use a better script. That's all I have to say about that.

Unless I am mistaken Cline (author of the book) had a hand in the script as well. So if anyone read the book and didn't like it I doubt this will be better. I've been meaning to read the book simply because it is talked about a lot. Though reviews tend to either be very favorable or very unfavorable with not a lot of middle ground.

Reference: The movie.

But in all seriousness, the movie looks good so far. I'm very happy to see more original ideas and movies in theaters in the past few months. Maybe the "Remake-Reboot-SequelReboot-PrequelReboot" era is ending? Very slowly, but still?

The book has been said to be godawful, think SAO but for westerners. Wish fulfillment jank with tons of references.

No, the problem is that Spielberg is still an "old-school" director from the 80's when they went out and bought scripts and licensed bestsellers to make interesting movies.
The RRSRPR Era began when Warner got a little too spoiled by having seven Harry Potter movies and three LOTR movies already written for them, and got too used to having one already completed every year without the hard part...

A movie that's adapted from an existing work isn't an "original" work and comically enough those movies can wind up getting sequels or retreads.

I was just about to comment oh boy can't wait to see Americas SAO in the theaters... the throwbacks are fun to see especially anime ones but that looks like all this movie has going for it. And after seeing all the SAO style anime series pop up to the point one company said no more, well i really don't see this going anywhere,
