I hope Uma Musume does not turn into IdolMaster by revealing a self-insert guy either before the airing or in the first episode. Something like that really annoys me and it is the main issue I have with the idol series. I just want to see girls do their thing without some "lucky" beta guy getting in the way. Since >KanColle, >Cross Ange, >LWA, and >BGHS also did that, chances are this upcoming anime may follow suit and that is going to be disappointing. Other than that, Uma Musume seems to be promising. |

Kancolle always have a player avatar known as the Admiral whose gender can be changed. Not surprisingly, the anime had one as well but they are faceless and have ambiguous gender. It is most likely that the anime admiral is male. For LWA anime (not the OVAs), it is more of a male love interest. Though the anime's producer has been accused by fans of creating him to be his/her self-insert. Most fans are not quite happy with the planned romance and that got axed in the end. |

Ok, is this pro beach volleyball or just for fun... or like Keijo!!!!!!! which made its "sport" into a kind of tv show where only the winners got money? These things are important to me for determining how much its characters' motivation matter... to its plot...
And just by looking at those covers, I know I'm thinking too deeply about the premise. Also, pro b vball isn't done in swimwear so... expectations shattered... As a side note, have we gotten to the point of just having a show where girls frolic on a beach in swimwear for its entire run yet? And if not, why not?! |

The concept of the Admiral is a nebulous one that just gives the girls someone to talk to. Its not so much that the gender can be changed. It is that there is none. For instance one aspect of the game, your kanmusu have 'hourlies' a line said for every new hour on the clock when they are set as the Secretary. "Hey its 5 o'clock, have you seen where my pal is?" "Hey, its 6 o'clock, hey I found them, we're going to get tempura." Some theories include allowance for multiple admrials. You don't play as one Admrial, you play as a purposely vague set of them. For example, during events on harder difficulties, there is ship locking. You can send one fleet to one map, (maps require multiple clears so you wind up coming back from failures often enough) but not send them to maps 3 and 5, or whatever. If you send them to map 2, that might be the only map they get to, and it'll be titled appropriately to give the impression they are unable to participate because they're off far away. Another example, smaller ship classes do not even refer to an Admiral, only to a Commander. Larger ships and fleets are Captained by Admirals. Destroyers will refer to their Commander when talking to the "admiral" entity. I know Izusu often mentioned she had famous Captains, and references to forming famous fleets in the quest descriptions. Are there then Historical Admirals also present? So its a mix of yes all everyone and no one plus maybe historical admirals. Also the Anime was trash. Summer 2017 Event starts in a few weeks though. Get stockpiling, Admirals, I want to see you all make a Clear. Even if its on Easy!! |

I'd like just one for a sports anime with a female cast to take the sport seriously (Girls und Panzer so far has been the best one to do it), but going by some comments in this forum it seems that there isn't too much focus on the fanservice. If it keeps it on something Haikyuu!! level of subtext and fanservice I think I'd really like it. But I'll look forward to the PV.

Don't expect something like that in Manga Time Kirara. They could replace "beach volleyball" with something else, and it wouldn't affect the story much. It might just be a flimsy excuse for fanservice.
It gets tiring after seeing that crap for the 7857th time. I just realized it after watching Hinako Note. |
