The fact is that this kind of depiction is so prevalent across all media that there is a reason to pull back from this content. It would be less harmful if it wasn't such a dominating view of the landscape.

Wait, they never saw Food Wars? That got an anime, have been running for five years. That recently have an image of a giant lady in a bikini have two muscle guy between her breasts?
I bet if Shonen Jump didn't have girls in bikinis on that cover, none of them would care. This always bugs me, people come out the woodworks and start saying "think about the children" when they see it. Why can't they sit down with their kids and talk about things, instead of censorship. Teach the kids not to do that in real life, talk to them. Stop going after media |

I think you're drastically overestimating how many fans got into anime because of its sexual aspects, as opposed to its mecha, fantasy, sci fi, video game-inspired, etc. elements... general "action" stuff. When you think about the "gateway" anime series on Toonami like Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Wing, Naruto, etc. none of them are appealing because of sexuality... and for many, many fans of those shows, the sexual elements were not viewed as "features" of anime (not to say that any of those things are bad, they just aren't what drew people to the series). |

I love when people make assumptions based on one cover image.
All nudity in that manga is already censored. There is no sexual harassment.... Actually, I take that back, there is sexual harassment, a preteen tanuki girl does sexually harass other girls, as part of her efforts to better understand the human body. The main/male character does not. In fact he is nothing but kand and polite to the girls, and defends their honor. |

JUMP is the same mag that has One Piece which features almost exclusively busty females, one of whom just wears a array of bikini tops for the last 8 years. And Sanji who's just a creep in all honesty. Black Clover which has a girl who sits around in her underwear for 75% of her on screen time.We Never Learn has had multiple chapters that took place in baths or with halk naked to naked characters. Food Wars which basically has people orgasm on page almost every chapter, hell this NSFW spread appeared in Food Wars a few weeks ago in a chapter titled THICK is Justice- http://i9.mangapanda.com/shokugeki-no-soma/215/shokugeki-no-soma-9283813.jpg . The Weekly Shonen Jump wikipage even lists the target audience as young males around middle school to high school age, not little kids. It's mostly meant for puberty age boys between 9-18 or so. The median age of Jump readers is actually 16 and half tha audience is between 13 to 17 and over 30% of readership is female. Yuna isn't about parading around naked women it's a supernatural rom-com, things JUMP has done for many years. We don't cut out the blood from One Piece because JUMP's a "kids" magazine, that be silly. Jump has series for multiple age groups, some rubs the top like Yuna and some is more young oriented. Hell this is the magazine that published Dragon Ball where in the first chapter Goku has his junk hanging out the whole time, or Naturo where less then five chapters in an ADULT shoves a finger into a kid's ass! Yuna's been around for over a year now and no one said anything till this color cover. Last edited by Snakebit1995 on Wed Jul 12, 2017 6:18 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Japanese parent: Son, I don't want you reading Shonen Jump anymore. This lawyer said it's not good for your eyes.
12 year old Japanese boy: Okay. (goes on the Internet, finds scanlations of much more graphic manga, uncensored porn, etc) |

The best phrase of the article is:
And also i don't think if children apply here because manga for children is Kodomo manga Shonen manga is manga for pre-teens and teens. Last edited by Jonny Mendes on Wed Jul 12, 2017 6:32 pm; edited 2 times in total |

You'd be very wrong about that. Putting that aside, though, I'm extremely curious about what you think makes something like Gundam better capable of engaging kids "about their growing sexuality in a non-patronizing way" than, say, Interview With A Vampire, which is what most 12 year old geeks were reading when I was that age. |

Where these people complaining about To Lover Ru Darkness when it ran in Jump Square? One need not molly coddle children from depictions of mere nudity. Also whether it is appropriate for children or not ought to be left up to the parents of the children not self-appointed moral guardians who try to censor entertainment.

I was getting ready to defend fan service until I noticed that several of them are crying. That seems a bit much for Shonen Jump.

The only reason they're complaining about it is because it's fresh and recent. There is literally hundreds of worse depictions of "Sexual harassment" out there, yet they only focus on this because it's recent.
Ridiculous. |

Well the motivations of the protagonist don't matter techinically yes becuase the idea is sort of still there. But it's also wrong to generalize and say it's the MCs fault when in this series it's literally never his fault, as someone else said a little girl usually pulls a stupid stunt and girls fall into him, it's not like he's Issei running around perving on chicks.
