And with that japanese Nintendo fanbase going in awe. Smart choice, Capcom, smart choice.

I've been saying for months that the Switch is the actual successor to the 3DS and that Nintendo is just buying time for it to pick up speed. Monster Hunter is one of the big titles that will push Switch sales and with it jumping ship to Switch(Though that doesn't mean there might not be anymore 3DS titles.), it's only a matter of time before other big 3DS series jump ship, like Animal Crossing and Pokemon, and I mean proper Pokemon.

I've been wondering if they were going to do this and it was why there was no announcement for NA MHXX.

A new MH would, but a probably 9+ month old one? I'm not sure.

Perhaps not a massive wave, but if one game is coming to Switch, it isn't too big of a stretch to think that newer games are also coming to Switch. Whether or not their exclusive to Switch or shared with 3DS is up for debate.

Historically speaking, that's not how Monster Hunter has worked. PS3 got an HD port of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Wii U got an HD port of Monster Hunter Tri G. The only other Monster Hunter game those platforms got was the ancient MMO.
Switch gets an HD port of Monster Hunter XX ... I guess it could buck that trend, though.

Well if the Switch turns into the successor to the 3DS, what other portable console will there be? I don't think the Vita is a getting a successor any time soon, and since the Switch is a portable by nature it fits the bill.
