What is the appeal of such a franchise that you get 1,000,000+ pre-registered that quickly?

Idolm@ster has the best characters of the big idol franchises (don't let CG fool you. it's just a bad adaptation having the least great characters as the main cast). The last CDs I bought this year were all from the Idolm@ster franchise.
