Keep in mind that the transformers the he designed weren't designed for Transformers. The Deluxe Insecticons were originally from Beetras for Takatoku Toys. Soundwave and his tapes along with Reflector were originally from Takara's Microman Micro Change series (Megatron along with Bumblebee and other mini cars were part of this line as well) in 1983. The same line would give us Perceptor and Blaster the next year.
