The game is gonna rawk
I've heard the opposite about the anime, though... I'll be picking up the special edition of the game, so if I enjoy the first DVD I'll probably pick up the rest.

This is fantastic! I was already planning on getting the game but this just makes things so much sweeter. I haven't seen the anime yet so it'll definitely be a great benefit to see it for myself since so many people have been praising it.
I like the idea of gaming and anime coming together in this way. Wish it were more common. I would've actually bought Xenosaga if the anime came along with it. Of course, I assume there are probably numerous obstacles to overcome to do such a thing but still the benefits for the consumer are outstanding.

The .hack// series is famous for tying all sorts of junk together.
I've been thinking about getting a 360 and DMC4 is making me want it even more ;D

For once I'm actually considering buying a collector's/limited edition of a game. I was pretty excited about this game already, but this adds a little fuel to my fire.

As Tubby Tommy puts it, "Its a Deal. Its a Steal. Its the sale of the f**king century."
DMC4 Stand Alone (60$) + Volume 1 (30$) = 90$
DMC4 Collector's Edition, with steel case, Volume 1, AND a bonus DVD = 80$
Not exactly the greatest of mathematical dilemmas, now is it?

Yeah, there are hurdles to cross... Supposedly, the DMC anime 'kind of' ties games 3 and 4 together, so it's plausible to include the anime, since it's also being released around the same time, whereas the Xenosaga anime started airing (January '05) only a month before Xenosaga 2 was released in the US, and it only covered the first game. It wasn't licensed until June of this year and the third game was released back August '06. So, that's kind of an impossibility, since I doubt they are still printing the game.
On-topic, I don't know if I'm going to bother with this... I wasn't too impressed with either DMC 2 or 3, and I couldn't even sit through the first episode of the anime, so this isn't too interesting a prospect for me, though the choice of getting it for my PS3 or 360 is nice.
