No. Beyond them both being 1) form-fitting full body armor and helmet and 2) entirely unoriginal, they are not similar at all. But it's hardly the first time we've seen a surrender at the accusation of plagiarism. ...And maybe the art department is jumping at the excuse to use a different design.

The funny thing is they could blatantly copy Sentai costumes like so many other games and Toei wouldn't care one bit, but Saban gets even a whiff of similarities and they throw their weight around.

Those don't look similar at all. I mean the colors I guess... but those are very basic colors.

my guess is that sban wanted some sort of extra advertisement for thier crappy movie and by doing this they get to appear in the ehadlines of gaming sites... did they even get a headline regarding their new power rangers movie in this site before this ?

The irony of an American company suing a Japanese one for using tokusatsu-esque designs. They have some nerve.

Except what Saban did was legal.

I don't think Saban would have a case for copyright infringement now or later. The designs are not similar, there isn't any similarity in the brands, and it could be regarded as satire.
I'm not sure how Japanese copyright law works, but it should be okay to release those FF15 suits under US copyright laws.

How does that make it not-ironic, or moral?

They are not similar, heck the "Magitek" in it's name pretty much would've made it legal.

Japan seems more lax about copyright infringement. While illegal uploading gets cracked down upon, they seem to be okay with selling Doujinshi or AOT copying NGE.

Except there's no case here in either case, in either country, if those images are anything to go by. It would be thrown out of court if it ever went that far...

Kinda fitting that an ugly parody of generic sentai outfits gets called out for being similar the new movie's designs.
