"Ran from 2014 - 1015"? Are they time travellers?
Little typo there.

You would think with the industry filled with series focusing on protagonists with revenge driven plots, they would have made an anime based on the root of all those stories by now.
There is Gankutsuou but that was a loos story with its own twist. i mean anime that actually adapts Alexander Dumas original book.

There just isn't that much of an audience for it, which is why I doubt we'll see them anytime soon. I appreciate that Gonzo had the nerve to even try and adapt Le Comte de Monte Cristo in any fashion, anime-spin or not.
They made a lot more of those types of anime in the 70's-80's, but they petered off going into the 90's in favor of more modern works. Even then, the ones that were made earlier were mostly simple stories like fairy tales, or adapted from books aimed at young people. I'd love to see some more classic adult books adapted, believe me, but I am not hopeful.

Except for the ending, Gankutsuou is actually a really close adaption that plays loose with artstile and setting. Honestly, the difference is mostelly visual, if indeed very much so.
(I'd actually rather have a reprint of that manga, but oh well.)

Since we have a few articles of Seven Seas licensing manga versions of Western classics, here is a thought: I think if they have a "Heidi"-based manga, that should also be licensed.
