Looks like they are making us wait for the cast announcements of Sabo, Koala, and Max. Shame

Why are they quiet about Sabo and Koala? Maybe they had to cut their scenes out for the theatrical release.

They probably don't wanna hear people complaining about how the voices don't match the characters right now.

Michele Knotz is pretty unexpected. Pretty much the only voice I still liked when they changed the Pokemon dub.

Well, guess it's time for predictions then. I'm really hoping Johnny Yong Bosch plays Sabo, since he has yet to be in this series. Max is going to have to be played by a buff guy and one who is a rather big name, and honestly from Funimation's catalog I don't know who would fit. And for Koala, definitely a regular, so maybe Jeannie Tirado? |

Yeah I'm guessing Jill Harris, Sarah Weidenheft, or Jeannie Tirado for Koala since they blew up last year and have been in a lot of anime since. All three are perfect for the role as well so we'll see.
Sabo might be Clifford Chapin. He would be perfect for the role. Max might be Ricco Fajardo using his Daryun voice or perhaps it will also be a guest voice actor like Tesoro and Carina. I doubt Koala and Sabo would have guest voice actors because they appear in a lot of episodes during the Dressrosa Arc and it would be a lot easier to hire voice actors that can regularly reprise the role. |

Please no! Clifford is a fine VA and he's talented but I just can't stand his voice. There's just something about it that I can't deal with. Not that I really care, I'm still gonna watch, I just would prefer it not be Clifford Chaplin. Then again I don't like Sabo as a character so I don't care who plays him, I think he's vastly overrated as a character (Just like Ace was). And if other manga had revived a character like that they'd be butchered but for some reason Sabo got a pass and that kinda bothers me a bit. |

Oh please. He was never revived. From the very same flashback and onward, Oda left in clues that Sabo never died. It wasn't a rivial nor was it a recon. Feel free to hate the character if you want (I'm not crazy about him either, when it comes to OP I like the more outlandish characters. Sabo is too cool and normal for me lol) but let's not throw that predictable shade about "When OP does things it never gets blamed like other series" when it comes to THIS because this was clear (if you payed attention to the flashback and then other hints) that this character wasn't dead. This wasn't a moment like say... Lissanna from FT, which was given no prior clues to her existence until the very same arc thar revealed she was alive. Foreshadowing is the key here. |

I mainly based my predictions on actors who have never worked on One Piece, or only did so as additional voices. Koala and Sabo will definitely be people that can come back frequently, while Max can be a guest. I'll be the first to say that Keith's casting completely caught me off-guard (has he had prior Funimation roles like Scott McNeil?), and if they got a Pokémon actor in who knows what else they could do (get the 4Kids cast to play the fake Straw Hats?). And now that I've thought about it, how about Richard Epcar? He's done Funimation roles before (Michiko & Hatchin and The Woman Called Fujiko Mine), and he's a big name that still does anime. Johnny Yong Bosch, however, really wouldn't be much of a stretch for Sabo. He already has to come back to play Lelouch again for Akito (and then for Resurrection). Also, we have to remember that Sabo's actor has to fill in the big shoes of a Californian actor that voiced Ace, who of course is Travis Willingham (*sniff*... I miss him so much... And Troy Baker and Laura Bailey...). They would probably be willing to spend around the same amount they had to use for Travis (maybe even less given how big Travis is today). Also, the voice is very similar. Nuff said. |

Oh my god FUNi do it, it'll be hilarious. I'm doubling down on JYB for Sabo; Todd Haberkorn might be a slim chance but I'm not sure how often he works with FUNi these days. Koala I think could go for Jad Saxton or Alexis Tipton; they both had minor roles back in Enies Lobby (lil' Robin and Fukuro) but haven't appeared since. |

@Gemnist: Keith was an extra in "BlazBlue Alter Memory" and was in "Oblivion Island", though the latter was recorded at NYAV Post and Funi released the home video. If Travis, Laura, and Troy were not in such demand for video games, then they might be able to do more Funi roles.
Considering that NY dubbing days are mostly dead outside of Pokemon and "Yu-Gi-Oh!" (there is still some other shows but that is sporadic), this might explain you are seeing some of the NY talent pool in more Funi roles. |
